I am sure that everybody is hoping the Turf track will return to its best and, other than being a bit narrower and no false rail to speak of,racing should not be all that inconvenienced.
The question is why the polytrack, which has had such positive comments from trainers and jocks ,is getting such poor fields.
Small fields will eventually strangle the exotic bets as ,once you remove the take out ,it is very difficult to get any value (and sometimes a profit at all) .
What is the general consensus ,going forward, from the connections in Natal?

Trainers that have facilities at other centres are also inconvenienced but at least they have an option

It would be interesting to see how they factor in the poly once they have fixed what they messed up

Turning into a Southwell winter meeting
Same horses every meeting
Stand out favourites
Poor horses so more form reversals
Horses being given a run for future engagements
Trainers stuck in their ways and still galloping horses on sand instead of poly

small fields on the Poly I could not ask for more, it's unfortunate for the exotics punters but do we want freak results for large payouts or form results.

You are right ,but is it sustainable? .............the bookies aren't going to continue to make profit easy .........if fields continue to average 8 runners I can see "roughies" being 15/10 eventually!!!

Rob you are 100% correct, Friday night racing and only 77 horses entered. Is the poly going to be our saviour or down-fall ?

perhaps not in the long run (but why worry about the long run, all we have is now..lol)
you question is very valid though Rob " why the polytrack, which has had such positive comments from trainers and jocks ,is getting such poor fields."

Historically I would never be out on a night when there is local racing .Having looked at Fridays fields ,there is nothing to stay home for!

Sunday,86 runners out of a possible 96 and 12 reserves. Pinnacle 1000m and 2 Mr races(86 F/M 1400m and 92 1600m ) didn't fill. Better.

I am not ofay with the rules and regulations but why is it that they only allow 12 horses in a poly race?
I didn't choose the #puntlife, the #puntlife chose me!

Not enough space for more starting stalls on poly track...
