Durbanville, 04/10

Just an overview of tomorrow's card. It's that time of the season in both the Cape and Johannesburg where the bigger named horses are being stepped out, so from a punting perspective it's difficult to be bullish on anything because most are prepping for bigger races in the season, but on ability, your fancies chances cannot be totally ignored - between a rock and a hard place as it were.

First two races on the card are best left alone. LOL, I always tell myself, don't be in a rush to lose your money.

R3) - I fancy the chances of Bruno. Went down to an improving sort last time, Triptothestars, but was in the race until very late. That was he's seasonal debut and first time at Durbanville, but a very decent effort nonetheless. Must be the one to beat here.

R4) Power King should open favourite and should be the one they've all got to beat. I make him 1.5kgs out at the weights with Run For It, but Run For It has been one of those horses who has flattered to deceive, for me anyway. If he did win, it wouldn't surprise me, but he can win without my money. Ability wise, Power King has more scope for improvement, so I'll take my chances with him. Tribal Dance could be the lurker here. Numbers 6, 7 & 8 are out at the weights with Power King, so theoretically shouldn't win, but stranger things have happened in this game.

R5) - On ability a fit Princess Chloe will make a mockery of this field, however I think they won't cut her in half to win a MR 64 as she is prepping for bigger things later. That said, I'm not saying she can't win, but I would be prepared to take her on especially since she is returning from a 126 day rest and this being her first run at the track. The other 3 year old in the race, Belle Juliette, I think is 1.5kgs out at the weights, but is racing fit. Bandana Girl may well be the value, albeit she has just won a maiden. Whilst she may not have beaten much, she was ultra impressive. From gate 1, I make her a runner here.

R6) - Lanner Falcon is well weighted here. She is yet to be beaten at Durbanville. The danger for me is Grey Light. Whilst her last win was impressive, unfortunately there has been 8 runners and no winners from that formline - guess she could do no more than win. Also her first time this course, think she will run in the first three - (waiting for the egg).

R7) - Afrikaburn is absolutely slung in here (I think). Neisius not riding because he can't make the weight. I am open to correction and will apologise in advance, according to my calculations, Afrikaburn should be carrying 59.0kgs - if someone can confirm if this is correct or incorrect? The biggest danger to Afrikaburn is Chestnut's Rocket. Afrikaburn cannot afford to lose too much ground at the start because he may battle to reel in Chestnut's Rocket, this horse is a very resolute galloper. Afrikaburn has in the main achieved he's MR over the 1400m, a distance he is unbeaten at to date, so I'll back him over the distance until beaten.

R8) - First Of May looks the one to be with provided Van Niekerk does not let The Queen Vic get away. First Of May does look very progressive, so I'll stick with her.

Good punting Clan.

Ballie, extremely well bred no doubt, and at that price tag one would expect it to win first time out, however first time at the races and drawn fairly wide, so I'll take my chances with the second favourite. If there is massive follow through on Imibala at race time, then I've chosen the wrong one, but I'm going to stick with the experienced runner.

R3
Buffalo Trip
This one finished together with Milton to Grape Vine and on the day Milton made his debut a host of other runners ran the same distance. When you look at those runners you cannot have any win money on Bruno

I have a first timer Tiger Rider in the first , wrong distance , so hoping he is given an enjoyable experience today. Useless info I know but maybe I can save someone a buck.

Race 6 Lanner Falcon the one for me both grey light and double whammy beat rats and mice last time, highly decorated although needing run last time wasn't very promising imo @ 6/1
Best of luck to all
