The decline of the MDK era ??

For the longest time the Mike De Kock stable seemed invincible .yet like all others before, the decline and ultimate passing of an era is inevitable.

Has this begun ....if the past few Durban seasons are anything to go by , I would say so!

Perhaps the idea of sending away any horse with potential has repercussions that Mr MDK didn't quite foresee?

Can't agree he has spread his wings over the planet and is internationally respected and a great ambassador of SA racing and this probably has a negative impact on the SA operation considering he takes his best horses overseas

Did Mark Sutherland ride Fearless Streaker ? It was owned by Mrs Head. She used to pop in to the Sea Point tote quite often. I was a regular every day from 3pm onwards. School uniform and all :)

He's lead the way for some time and forced trainers to up their game to compete, many have responded and in my opinion his rising tide has lifted all boats. It's great to see how other yards have become more competitive and I have no doubt that Mike and his team take winning in SA as seriously as winning anywhere. In my opinion others will follow him overseas, already happening as they pass good horses on to him and in so doing all trainers will have their top horses traded/raided/raced overseas. Expect his team and stable to just get better and better.

Got a feeling the owner is gonna cut back on his SA string, really going for it big in the UK
