Press release - Parade ring access
10 years 8 months ago
New rules regarding parade rings were implemented countrywide, at the beginning of the year. The Racing Association, Gold Circle, Phumelela Gaming, The National Horseracing Authority and Kenilworth Racing agree that these rules will continue to enhance the image of the sport and ensure greater safety. Since 11 January 2014 access to a parade ring on any raceday requires an RA, Gold Circle or NHRA badge.
Owners not belonging to an owner’s association can get valid badges from the NHRA. A letter was sent by the racing governing body clarifying this new arrangement, with Colin Hall the contact person to help resolve any queries.
Badge holders can bring guests into the parade ring, using day badges that will be distributed from information kiosks on the various racecourses.
A revised and relaxed dress code sensibly does not allow short pants and sandals. Also, children under 12 years of age may not enter the parade ring for safety reasons, and now that the introduction trial period has been successfully concluded, stricter measures will apply to ensure that access and dress code are adhered to.

I think in principle this is a good thing - but as with most things the devil will be in the details - where would I find these 'Information Kiosks' on track? Will 'they' have the 'will' to enforce this 'dress code'? I hope the NHRA now have sufficient badges in stock - I had to wait a few weeks before getting mine, as they were 'out of stock' at the time.

Is the parade ring rule only for some people or for everyone, I see owner Van Vuuren can take his kids in the parade ring, are they to scared to tell him that there are rules that no kids under 12 allowed in the parade ring,or is this another blind eye turned course money talks .

Probably they reserve the rights for standards and double standards.? Or maybe the kids are the future owners so yeah, get them in.
However a small owner with long shorts will get the boot , as clanner PRESS did when his horse ran 2nd and he was banned from the No.2 box.

look it's common sense to keep kids out the parade ring
Maybe it's time to get all owners to sign a disclaimer if any injury happens to kids on track then so be it..
And let us decide if we want our kids in the ring with us

It seems like the rules will be enforced upon certain individuals as clanner PRESS points out in his post.
What odds his kid/s will be turned away from the ring because of the " RULES".

Absolutely no one will have the balls to tell a big time owner he can't bring in his 10 y.o. son or daughter into the ring. Just won't happen.
R 10 today Frodo brought his daughter into the ring cause she is of legal age now, ( last time she was in the ring probably 3-4 years ago when they did not enforce the kids age ruling ) she used her moms badge. Where was mom ? on the balcony looking after her 10 y.o. son !
Good days racing had by myself and my wife, not a great day for Frodo - his wife cracked a few bloody good exata's. Master ent. Ran 6th, just out the money so a bit disappointing.

Really looked bad, poor example.
I am not too sure that Mr.Ferraris is too pleased about that.
