Turf race 3.
I don't like fields with this many first timers but i sure will have a good bet on Captain Cayote. Half brother to Vercingetorix, full brother to never forever and trinity house! Odds on come race time!

I thought there was a strike or everyone gravitated to a new site and I didn't get the memo. It's taken almost an 1h30 for someone to post since the thread was started. Anyways, I fancy the following :-
R4) Valberg, I know what you all thinking - it's never run beyond a 1000m before, therefore it can't win, coupled by the fact the senior jockey is on the stable elect, Deliver The Power. I just feel Valberg is well weighted and could go close. Not a confident selection by any means, but a good price.
R5) She's A Stunner, my best bet on a difficult card. Is holding form well and has run to stronger. She seems to race handy, from a good draw and the firm going, she could keep rolling despite carrying top weight.
R6) Semra, got tired very late in her come back run. From a decent draw, she could hit the front and be very difficult to peg back. Also one who prefers to race handy, so the firm going could assist her front running tactics.
R7) Brooks Club, the jockey booking must catch your eye. When is the last time Strydom rode for Azzie? Bar his last run, BC does run well on the inner track.
Play well.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

I like a howler to place in the first - PHANTOM BID - Gets a draw and the rider has third try on her. Very limited but with respect this field may well be better suited to the polo field than racecourse. If the debutantes have ability they should win but of the raced horses I'll go with the inform stable and at 320/100 a place is worth a strong punt.
BLACK OLEANDER, well beaten by above average type last time but racing experience should see her place
I'm going with CAPTAIN COYOTE to win on debut.
Old LINK MAN should be in the exacta today.
WEEKEND SPECIAL comes from an out of form stable which is a worry BUT that last victory suggested that the daughter of Spectrum would win a few more this season - I like the draw and Gunther compliments her.
UNDERCOVER CAT should win.
I like NEWTON POWER today but have to take cognizance of "run" given to HEART OF A LION(A horse that has huge potential this season) and BROOKS-CLUB who might just steal it with Strydom setting his own pace.
REIGN VICTORIOUS has a strong trainer/jockey combo in his corner but I do respect the evergreen AHOY CAPTAIN who is due a win before he retires.
SILVER SHAMA is worth an E/w in the closer as Devin Little does not often book Striker unless he fancies his chances.

With the state of the track , you wouldn't blame punters for not punting

At the weights I make Mr Mulliner a big runner; close up at level weights to Bouclette Top and receives a lot of weight from Heart of a Lion (who could be argued to be on par with Bouclette Top) today.
LG's stable still continuing to fire, so Move Like Jagger from a good draw also catches my eye.
Two roughies to have another look at - Approximate on the run to Usisi looks well in and has each-way credentials at big odds; also Belle Coco in the last - MR has come tumbling down and from a good draw in a weak looking field (apart from the favourite?) has place prospects at least
That's assuming we get to race - very dark here in Midrand and I don't think the current condition of the track will take a lot of rain before it gets too dangerous to race
