Agree with LG, crazy timing... Just pleased I skipped this and placed on the R2R.
I really think the TBA missed a trick in letting Tom go, great shame.

.....imo the Trippi bred by Lammerskraal Stud that went for R300K will be the business.....likely to land up in a top stable and improve on what the imported dam has thrown thus far....

some news from the sales
Duncan was among the leading buyers at the 2014 Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale, which concluded early yesterday afternoon. He signed for eight lots, two colts and six fillies. Highest purchase was R160k for a Kildonan colt from Moutonshoek while he also paid R130k for a Toreador filly from the same stud. Duncan paid R60 for a Mambo In Seattle filly, also from Moutonshoek, and she will hopefully follow in the footsteps of Same Jurisdiction. Others buys were R50 for an Ideal World filly, R100k for a Black Minnaloushe filly, R30k for a Jay Peg filly, R110k for a Miesque’s Approval filly and R100k for a Windrush colt.
The sales results were mixed as both the median and average prices fell considerably from 2013, and while the sale aggregate of R33 500 000 was up 25% on last year’s total of R26 735 000, this can largely be attributed to a much larger catalogue.
Overall the average price dropped 14 percent with the prices dropping to R84 810 from R99 019 a year ago. The median also suffered a severe decrease, falling by 17% from R60 000 to R50 000 in 2014.
However, a new record price was set for the sale when Form Bloodstock spent R2.6 million on a Western Winter colt.
This is the highest price ever paid in the long history of the National 2YO Sale, The colt was consigned by Varsfontein Stud and is a half-brother to highly rated 3yo colt MLJet.
Form Bloodstock ended the sale as leading buyers, having spent R2 900 000 to buy two lots.
Brian Burnard was second leading buyer, splashing out to buy 11 lots at an aggregate of R2 235 000. The sales leading vendors were Klipdrif (Agent), who grossed R4 515 000 for their 32 lots sold. In terms of average, Varsfontein led the way, with all 11 of their horses on offer finding new homes at an average price of R371 818.
