Auctioneers for National Two Year Old Sale
Due to the unforseen non-availability of Andrew Miller for the forthcoming Two Year Old Sale, the allocation of lots to the auctioneers had to be
changed as per the attached schedules.
The majority of lots will be handled by Steve Davis and Graeme Hawkins, with Alan Sinclair assisting with 40 lots on the Thursday.
We apologise for this late change but unfortunately it is a matter beyond our control.
Kind Regards

www.sportingpost.co.za/2014/08/national-2yo-sale-preview/
Every year the National 2yo Sale presents dilemmas. A vast number of entries – too many for most to inspect individually. Many are 2yo’s who for some reason didn’t appear on the major yearling sales earlier in the year – late developers, often, but mostly pedigrees which didn’t quite make it. In the latter category you’ll find the progeny of young, unproven mares, many very well related through highclass dams and/or siblings – but themselves not quite there. For buyers it means having to take chances on the paper evidence, or purely going by physical appearance. It’s a tough task to sort wheat from chaff.
The leading sires are represented, of course, but not in great number. New sires, or those with just one crop racing so as yet unproven, make up a sizeable chunk of the sale. Dams of the youngsters are another story – there are fewer with winning black type than at other sale, or with black type winning progeny.
What we do know, though, is that if they’ve done it once, they can do it again. So here are two researched stories: one about the 2yo’s with bold black type dams and/or siblings, the other about sire x broodmare sire crosses that have produced black type. That might make life a little easier.

...... I just returned from a morning at the sales complex......the place is like a well manicured cemetery....no ambiance nor buzz at all..... did my usual fly on the wall routine and eaves dropped on a few very informative conversations on the woes of the state of the TBA and lack of interest in the very large numbers of horses on sale.....a buyers market is predicted with very few of the top studs personal being on hand......I saw a few newby black buyers that really needed introduction and to be shown around.....Tom would have been on them in a flash.....the grooms from from one of my favourite studs called to them to come and have a look at what was on offer....rather sad that the stud manager senior staff nor owners were not on hand to welcome them....but top studs need no marketing they will survive selling at around the half bar average they constantly get from local bloodstock agents...
What does need marketing is the TBA/BSA as with a guy like Tom gone the CTS crew will erode the TBA support and less of the better Cape stock will make the transport to a grave yard.....

Without Captain Tom at the helm the ship is sailing backwards - It amazes me that when a top individual leaves the remaining staff do not put up their hands and make things work so that the company stays at the level set by him.
