Any more news?
I did hear the other day that bookies had been visited and told the complainent where to go?
Was not aware it was the police, anyone know the legalities?
If a bookie was taking bets on the football and showing the game live what is the difference?
If you pay for DSTV are you not covered, what makes Tellytrack unique, plus they can pick and choose what they want to show us.

Any legal brains would like to comment :S

Seemingly from what i have been told, they are trying to get the bookies on the counterfit goods act or something similar..

But the bookies have a few tricks up their sleeves

Phumelela never approached the gambling boards about this increase, and their licences (phumelela) in some regions are at risk

Multichoice policy I believe is you're in breach as tellytrack is restricted for private use by the DSTV subscriber and is conditional on agreement of usage, display of Tellytrack to the public for commercial use requires a commercial licence from Tellytrack directly, anyone in breach of these rules shall be guilty of a criminal offence in accordance with copyright act.

Thanks BB but surely it's more logical for multichoice to make it a paying channel if you don't pay you don't get, I am sure IGN was like this in the past.
If for example it was in the bookies private office and the punters were looking through the window as an extreme example >:D<
I would guess very hard to control and better to fix the source than rather to manage the current system that is screaming for abuse and possible expansion of bucket shops

Just my view

"P" don't have a very good history of handling their "get tough" strategies ................. the "open bet"being just one example, and the Tellytrack issue has,so far, been equally embarrassing.
I am told that they will be taken on by the bookies on this pirating issue, including defending in court ,if necessary!

seemingly PE racing could be in trouble if they go to court

I was at Gambling Board Public Hearings in PE on Friday, where the Boardwalk Casino
had made an application to amend some of its licence conditions. They got a real
hammering by the Board, and after they complained about the rollout of Bingo EBT's
in the Eastern Cape, Mr Odwa Mtati, the Deputy Chairperson of the Eastern Cape
Gambling and Betting Board, told them the Board was not there to protect them, but
to ensure they complied with their licence conditions. I am sure the same will apply
to Phumelela, so I hope they get their house in order in the Eastern Cape soon.

The law will decide I guess, all I know is bookmakers need to come to the party now, punters are in the middle of this! How can you expect tellytrack to revert to normal if half the bookies have signed up and the other half are enjoying the ride - at the punters expense! Surely the free ride is over?

Please explain "at the punters expense"..............I need to know if it's costing me something I am unaware of!
