Rollercoaster that is racing

My first self bred filly Antonia Major won her first race yesterday, which was the culmination of 5 long years after we retired her mom due to injury.
Planning a mating, news that she had been born healthy, arriving at the training yard, her first race, her first place and now her first win were all amazing days that make horse racing so enjoyable.

The half sister 2 year old died last month one day before her first grass gallop.Besides the financial aspects, the emotional lows are very low.

So we all buy our ticket, take our chances and enjoy a very bumpy ride.

We thought her dam could get black type. She is the full sister to Cerise Cherry. 2 other full brothers won 22 races between them.
Unfortunately she seems to have inherited half of her moms ability and all of her bitchiness. They love to bit hard. Both dangerous when near their box. Groom will be getting a deserved present

Excellent result for a man whose only flaw is his loyalty to a pretty poor soccer team. You tell me you want to give up breeding but guess what - you now have another mare waiting to join the paddock. You deserve every success and when those Rocks hit the ring you will have enough tom to settle the Brewery you owe me . Sell a kidney now and book her to JUDPOT .

People sometimes make jokes about schools which give prizes to everyone. Nothing in Thoroughbred racing or betting is like that. Everything about it is unforgiving. Everything is very competitive. And sometimes even when you do everything right, the randomness of life can just nail you. We might use words like unlucky or unfair. But horse racing is like a real life sized board game with no mercy and no apparent fairness. It's utterly addictive and it can take you out for real. Loses can be heart breaking and so victories can be euphoric.

Good luck breeding a winner on your first lap which as you say took 5 years. Only once you have done it does the enormity of time, money, effort and luck become real. There's not many things that you do in life like this. Cheers.
