Its a pity he had to retire in this test match, the only thing people will remember about this test is how SA sold the 1st test.....

Why is it that some of you SAs always have to focus on the negatives? Every player has dips in form, sometimes it comes at the end of a career. In some cases injuries play a part. That does not mean someone should retire the first time they have a bad game!
Tests... 2nd in the list of catches taken, top 30 wicket takers, 4th most runs scored. This is not a time to say he should have gone earlier etc, it is a time to acknowledge and applaud a truly great player of the game, the likes of whom sadly grace the field much too rarely and even more sadly, are watched/slagged off by a load of tv armchair critics/whiners who can't even be @rsed to get off their lazy butts and go watch your brilliance "live". I tip my hat to you Jacques, a wonderful player who I will greatly miss watching. All the best to you in whatever your future holds, you will be much missed from the test arena, your kind don't come about so often. I applaud, and have a drink to, an outstanding career :)o
(Happy Birthday Mav

Ta Pirh! My stepbrother is taking us all out to an eating place on the Midlands Meander for lunch ... don't know it but I believe it's popular. Slightly sorry to miss the start of the next Test but hey! as they say, it's a good problem to have, too many good things to choose from.

A legend and a true gentleman!
His record speaks for itself.
Hopefully the powers that be will ensure that he is not lost to SA cricket.
