That's the problem with SA. Think one player is the team. Guys catch a wake up. He was good but not indispensable. We are a great team and not because of Jaques only. Have any of you guys been following the Proteas without Jaques? I think not. India does not miss Sachin nor will we miss Jaques. I did not say he was not good but it's not his time now.

Pirates you are 1000% right. Still better than 99.99% of players in SA right now. No all rounder in SA even in the same division. Just look how he bowled and batted in the 2nd innings of the last test. Was batting beautifully until given out. Took up the reins when Morne was injured and bowled very well. Are you sure some people on here have not had too much to drink over lunch and forgotten who they posting about?;)

I agree with Pirates , Kallis is a living legend. Every boy playing school cricket want's to be Kallis.
In my time he has been in a class of his own and just to have him in the team is a huge confidence booster for his team.
His recent bad run just shows that he is human. What a player ! Premature retirement I feel.

Agree!!!!!!Kallis will leave a massive gap.......... For the clever people....So who would you rather choose now who has a batting average of 50+ together with and bowling record like the one Kallis has?? These legends are not available of the shelves........form is tempory but class is permanent!!!!

Time for the old guard to make way for new faces.Big problem in S A sport especially cricket, they want to hang onto players for as long as possible thereby restricting youngsters from entering the big stage.Look how long it took for them to get rid of Hudson. If it wasn't that Boucher was injured then A B would still have been warming the benches.

A great player and a outstanding sportsman. We should give more credit and show more respect to him.
He played the game with honour and dignity.
A true champion who will be missed .
