All I know is they will all struggle against Capetown Noir in the LQP.

You might be right, but his best run so far imo was the daily news 3rd

Shrewd nomination Red Ray in the Queens P. One has to think with a little left in the tank he's a runner. I'm surprised no other 3yo is considering a wfa mile.

I think that the Paddock Stakes will be a tougher race to win than the Q Plate. The older fillies and mares are particularly strong- In order of preference I like Beach Beauty; Do You Remember; Espumanti; Jet Aglow; Hammies Hooker. I can't see any of the 3yos making the frame.
Of the dual entrants, Do you Remember is better over the further trip, wheras Espumanti equally effective both trips. Would make sense for her to go for the QP I think.
QP is tricky this year- CTN was disappointing last run, but this is his mission so still a big runner. Jackson comes in off only the Diadem run as prep, and while he is a very decent miler, he is at his best over 2000m.
King of Pain is in good form and draws well. Whiteline Fever and Royal Zulu Warrior have to be respected despite poor draws. Ice Machine ran a cracker last time.
Red Ray and Espumanti are big runners.
My early preference: Red Ray; Espumanti; Capetown Noir; Jackson; Ice Machine

I mostly agree - but I think there are two ways to look at it from the de Kock' stable point of view - to date Espumanti has not been that effective beyond 1600 - so if they are really contemplating the Met, the Paddock Stakes could be a nice 'trial' to see if going for the Met is a realistic option; the 'easier' road could be the QP - but if she runs in that I doubt she would go for the Met - unless they go in with the attitude of 'nothing to lose so let's give it a try'.

I hope that Red Ray does run in the QP - it would give us a realistic indication of how the 3yr olds stack up to the older horses. I agree the race is wide open; nothing much between CTN and KOP on 3yr old form, so on that Ice Machine comes into it - a lot would also depend which race (QP or Met) the 'real' target is for horses like IM and others - if the 'real' target is the Met, they may not be at their very peak for the QP :S

i just hope if red ray runs in queens plate that they dont put a marcus up.he is not riding well at the moment and they should try striker because he was the last jock to win the queens plate on a 3 yr old.(gimmethegreenlight).

i do think that jackson is the 1 to beat in queens plate because there is no variety club in the race.
