Grand Parade,Generous sponsor?

Generous sponsor?

R1 million Grand Parade Cape Guineas on Saturday. Chairman Hassen Adams been waxing lyrical about a day of giving back to the people and how forthcoming sponsors have been.

Now Cape Trainers (at this late stage) have been asked to co sponsor R200 per groom on day to cover cost of t shirt, cap and a hamper that hase been advertised in the promotional material.

Grand Parade will pitch in R200 per groom.

How does the organisation of it work and must it be assumed every trainer, who may have already paid bonuses etc, will be able to cough up R200 per groom?

It seems crazy that a sponsor of a R1 million race is trying to get cash out of trainers to finance an initiative that none of the trainers had a say in, albeit for a good cause.

Ask the RA they will probably help out I cant imagine more than 20k needed for the grooms. assuming 100 grooms on the day.

Please note; on Saturday, arrangements are being made to have Fiona Ramsden interview winning riders as they return to the winners enclosure - either of all races on the day or just the Grand Parade Cape Guineas (Grade 1

If this does go ahead, Fiona will be doing this walking alongside the winner, on foot, as they make their way back to the winners enclosure. This is the first time we will be doing this here and we would appreciate everyone's co-operation as this can be a tricky thing to manage.

hibs

normally 40% of the stake is put up by the sponser

but the norm over the last number of years due to the recession that % can change

also the main sponser on the day covers all the cost for prizes, blankets and all apparell for the grooms and presenters

although with phumelela calling the shots this should not make a difference as clyde basel has alwalys since my time been the main link to sponsers

Mr Adams should have mentioned in his interview with Fiona that the trainers were also contributing to the grooms.
