The only thing that will beat RR is the second run after a rest syndrome, but the good un's don't seem so have that problem. They just keep arriving, I know at the current odds it's not worth a head the punt, they all running for second.

I think this one is out at the weights, but don't let me put you off, Disco Al looks a good thing in this line up, my very subjective view.

I'm going racing for the first time since the Met of 2010 as I have a friend with a runner in the R2 million race and have been asked to accompany her.

First change I noted - Computaform now costs R25. Wow! I think it was about R12 when last I bought one.

Had a look at the card and identified a few points which clanners might find useful (or not! ) :

Cape Town Noir vs Beach Beauty:

As I honestly do not believe there is any other horse likely to win here I would Dutch them ; ie Ideally put the big money on the 'long shot' and save on the favourite. Or do it the other way around if you must. Perhaps a boxed exacta for the smaller player? (Not the smartest bet if one wins and the other runs third or unplaced)

Red Ray is a stupid price. Opened 7/20 and is now 4/10.

And............The percentage of horses that win at odds-on over the old course Kenilworth 1400 m is.............4%!!

Stayers Race

Beware the horses that do not have form/experience over the actual trip.

The difference between 2400 and 3200 is massive so be warned.

Many of the fancied runners have not gone beyond 2400.

Helderberg Blue vs Roving Consort......Beach Beauty vs CTN.......Red Ray vs Arion/Capt America.......a great days racing ahead on a sunny CT day....strong headwind though!

Race 5, Green Point; #15 BEACH BEAUTY: weighted to beat Cape Town Noir by nearly 4 length; on a hattrick; in the Garden Province she beat subsequent winners who ran 2nd, 3rd and 4th; very classy; trainer in form. Go baby go.

Race 6, Selangor Cup; #1 ZAMBEZI TORRENT: weighted to win by 2.5 lengths. At least 11/2 but ask for 6.

Race 7, Cape's RTR; #1 RED RAY. Against this pish? Nap.

Race 8, Kenilworth Cup; #4 DUBAI GINA: returning to form and trainer is in form; has previously shown class. At least 7/1 but ask for 10.
