.....I hardly think that if this occurance was planned ......it would not be the owner or trainer as the big exotic quartet means nothing to them.....if a ring(in) sting was planned .....then one has to look at the smaller people in the game......a forward thinking groom and an underpaid horse examiner....:
.....some money was put on as when I put place bets the winner was way in the double figures......for a small EW layout and a quartet double floating with the fav. is all that is needed for those where a mere R100k+ is worth the risk....a trainer would not risk a training career for such a smallish coup....

So I guess it all comes down to who has the resources, moral fortitude and gonads to take on the NHRA? What about a Punter's Trade Union?

The NHRA close the gate after the horse has bolted - how unusual>
<
I have mentioned before that I have stopped taking my weekly Pick Sixes - these sort of cock ups just reinforce my decision.
Racing will not get one cent further out of me and I have punted for around 40 years, I have been a bookmaker and I am a life member of GC but after seeing the MR saga plus all the other cock ups in recent times I have no faith in the NHRA and the various authorities - Phum / GC etc. etc.
That's it for me - had enough - will limit my involvement to entertainment on ABC.

Stewards allow wrong horse to race - Odds on favourite gets beat
Nic Ashman - 7/11/2013
South African stewards are refusing to comment following the disqualification of Magic Feet from the Maiden Plate (1000m) at Kenilworth overnight after it was discovered to be the wrong horse.
The Darryl Hodgson-trained filly started at 66-1 and beat the odds-on favourite Abyssinia by a neck in a nail biting finish. Reports out of South Africa say there was "little interest in the winner".
Bookies and totes paid out on Magic Feet with correct weight being declared. Shortly after the discovery was made that it wasn't Magic Feet that had won. The actual winner is yet to be identified publicly.
Abyssinia was awarded the race and its prizemoney but the punters were left cold. Anyone that backed the odds-on favourite was not able to collect.
Stewards are yet to comment with the media asking "why the horse identifier did not pick the error up prior to the race?"
.....even the Aussies have picked -up the story.....the racing authoritory has to respond most urgently if they wish to maintain any form of creditabilty....:

It takes a minute or so for the race to be run and days before the NHRA take control and issue a statement !!

A Member of the Western Cape Stipendiary Board lodged an Objection against MAGIC FEET being declared the winner of the 1st Race, [Ref. K215 Welcome to Kenilworth Maiden Plate (F & M) run over 1000M], on Wednesday 6th November 2013, in terms of Rule 68.3.4, in that the filly, which was entered for and had run in this race under the name of MAGIC FEET was in fact a filly called IGNITION LADY.
The Objection Board, after considering the evidence presented found that it was conclusively proved that the horse MAGIC FEET had not participated in the race but that the horse IGNITION LADY in fact ran and won the 1st Race. Accordingly the Objection was upheld. In terms of Rule 69.6 the horse that ran as MAGIC FEET is disqualified from the race, and the Judges’ placings were amended accordingly. All records pertaining to MAGIC FEET, in this race, are to be expunged from the Official records. Furthermore, the provisions of Rule 67.7.8.1, pertaining to Stake money applies.
