Sorry Craig, I was just trying to point out to Harris that the horses are not taken to the Lion Park alive. But I haven't heard anything about horses being sold to illicit slaughterhouses and owners being told another story... If that is true, then that too needs to be outed on a "name and shame" basis. Unfortunately the behaviour of an unscrupulous few sully the name of Horseracing, and we all get tarred with the same brush. Please let me know if I can assist you in any way.

Craig i have it on good authority that about 30% of horses that end up at the horsecare also end up being euthanased and end up loinfeed

Hibs,just to let you know that this horse did not race in Namibia with the other Visser horses in July. However,you keep on referring to bush racing as if it is the root of all evil,and it is not. As Steph rightly put it,horses get injured in all types of races and at all types of surfaces, but it is the way these horses are treated afterwards that matters. In my 20 years of bush racing I have seen these types of injuries but I can give you my word that nobody that I know would neglect a horse like that and to leave it in pain and suffering for almost a week.

The owner should not be allowed to own horses again!!!

I was an owner with them, when my mare was retired a very tearful person told me they had a buyer for her and a deal was done for R10 000 4 months later (my fault i was no chasing) I started to chase the R10 000 then the stories started about them not being paid by another person and living in the stables and not enough money for even a clutch for the bakkie to get repaired. I decided there and then to move my other filly and to remove the mare. The mare i was asked to keep there as the oke was going to pay asap.....on the DAY the other filly was leaving she made HUGE improvement and WON no sooner had she crossed the line than the phone rang NON STOP for 3 hours and then the next day.

The gist of the call was " sir please dont mix one part of business with we really need have the stake for the winner please dont offset the stakes for the winner against the monies owed for the mare that was sold.

this begging and pleading lasted 3 days, i relented paid them half the stakes BUT also removed the mare. The mare has now moved on, from selling her for R10k she ended up costing me another R20k

Easy, I used to the exact same stories as you. Money needed, please dont off set etc. Used to those badgering calls all the time, but when the horse was shipped to me when the career was over, never ever received a call to find out if the horse arrived safely

just confused that cliff miller can make a statement that this injury was not serious then horse put down ,not saying much for his knowledge of horses .
that a person can right an email about not keeping the horse in a stable with this injury,then definitely he knows nothing about horses.

the Nhra should take some of the trainers in kimb to a Lie detector test about the use of ACTH on race days and the signing of passports that was not done by a vet

At Fairview there is an arrangement with both local Game Parks that they will come immediately they are needed for a fatally injured or ill animal that has to be euthanized. There is a dedicated area for this away from stables and horses. Should the horse be unable to move the deed is done as quietly and humsnely as possible in it's environment.

Maybe the stipes/vet get a kickback when horses earn:S, because when last did anybody in kimberley been caught doping?? , Kimberley racing needs a thorough investigation from trainers to administrators turning the blind eye :X
How bad must it be if the whole public knows about it but nothing been done by the authorities ?
Sent all the facts and prove to authorities and if not handled with immediate effect and coming down severely on perpetrators then sent it to carte blanch to show the facts and callout the administrators( including CEO, CHAIRMAN ) of RA ,PHUM,NHRA to explain on live television and be humiliated the way they let our beloved sport be :X

I have been part of a specific proffession for many years. Every year a few individuals (the number grows significantly every year) brings our profession into disrepute. In the past, these few individuals were dealt with very harshly, and they were all made part of the unemployed community. Nowadays, the controlling body takes years to finalise an investigation, more years to secure a prosecution and conviction and then slaps the bloke or gal on the wrist and 90% of the time alllow them back into this particular profession!!

Please do not tell me this is what is happening in the horse racing industry? Surely there are passionate people in this industry's controlling bodies who are not just in it for the salary/money, but really care and will do something about this? Look at all the allegations we have already had. on this topic. Look elsewhere on this forum and you will find more.

I for one will boycot Flamingo until satisfactory action has been taken to investigate this. I am not advocating a conviction and sentence (democracy rules), merely a full investigation and action. None has been even mentioned by those in authority
