Yebo.

In any event not a good thing to do.
Why would they do with the empty stables. Mind boggles....

Some points....
1)Only Gauteng and Cape Town Racing have no form of "protectionism" in terms of stabling policy, or, for example, "preferred or guaranteed runners". All other provinces/centres have.
2) All Training centres are full and the fastest growing segment of the Industry is spelling and pre race conditioning facilities/farms.
3)In terms of the Stable Rental Contract, no Trainer may sublet any stables or yard, without written permission from the Landlord (Phumelela).
4) This week we goto National 2 year old Sale. There will be some horses coming into the Training centres. I currently have 3 empty stables. Should I buy 5 horses, I would need 2 extra stables. In this case, one of my neighbours would help me out. I would call Lyle at PGL and obtain permission. I would then call NHRA and obtain permission, as these are not runners, are temporary and are in a "baby" yard and only for 14 days, etc. I would have to supply full details of the horses etc, in writing and obtain approval. Anything else is in contravention of NHRA rules, local Conditions and Stabling Rental Contracts.
5)The rules, as in 3 above are there to prevent collusion etc. They are important rules, in terms of the bigger picture.
6)There is a very long waiting list for stables up here in Gauteng and the longest list is for Randjesfontein. My name has been on the list for a barn there, for about 4 years. Why should a KZN based Trainer jump the long list ?
7)And NO, Phumelela didnt suddenly jump up and evict Kom Naidoo. Kom always knew that he was in Randjes through channels other than the correct ones and has known this for sure, for well over a year. There is no Provincialism here, only facts and a very long list of approved applicants waiting for those stables, myself excluded.
8)If finding a guilty party is the goal here, then the only guilty parties here are Trainers - the one who sublet to Kom and Kom himself, for having no Stable Rental Contract.

Ultimately, what started out as a good thing for Racing, the swopping of 25 stables between Alec and Kom, only for the Winter Season, (Alec's strong horses down there and Kom's weak ones up here for Winter), a few years ago, has turned sour. And once again, Trainers have only themselves to blame.......whilst others have to sort the mess out.

Thanks LouisG for giving pertinent info on my original QUESSTIONS. What I would also like to know is why are the Rules only now being enforced as U state that this arrangement has been going on for 'well over a year'', surely this was well known by Phumelela a long time ago.

LouisG surely if something is being done that is outside of the Rules & Reg then someone is GUILTY. My question is, both Trainers involved knew they were breaking the Rules, so what sanction will be imposed, notwithstanding the opinion that it MIGHT have the best for Racing.

Louis, agree entirely with your comments and no point in having rules if they are not enforced.
My ongoing issue is that it's just a pity that the NHA believe some rules are important and others not!...............Sadly recent history suggests they enforce mainly when pressured to do so. B)-

Fogwils, Rob Faux,

I agree with you both 100%. At present, we have formed a National Trainers body and we are focussed solely on the rules, with regard to very necessary changes, urgently.

At this point, I can only say that the NHRA have been positive and willing to walk the road with us. There will be many changes, for the benefit of all. Once there is any change, I will post, but this will be press released anyway.

Scotia, I do agree that it would be great if PGL, RA, NHRA were to post regularly, on issues. There are, however, just too many dangers in that. For instance, I was contacted by a KZN journalist from a huge newspaper, on the Kom Naidoo issue. During the telcom, it was mentioned that Kom was going to court etc. So, to my mind, I would understand, in this instance, a reluctance to comment by PGL. sub judicae?

Also, whilst the majority of posters on ABC do look at the facts and understand them in the bigger picture, there are those that will have a full go at anything published by the bodies, more often than not, insulting them. On those grounds, I fully understand why they do not post, unfortunately.

From my side, I often run the risk of being seen as the Operators mouthpiece or as being one of their bedfellows. I can only, again, assure you that this is not the case at all. (attend any Industry Liaison meeting and you would think that we are mortal enemies !!)

I simply go and find the details or facts on issues when I can and report back on ABC.
