Hi Blouperd, firstly thanks for arranging the competition, however I think the scoring systems needs to be explained in more detail, that way it's not open to mis-interpretation or argument. What I mean by that, above you state points will be allocated according to TAB payouts. Are you implying (for example) the winner pays R10.00 = 10 points and a placed horse pays R1.80 = 1.8 points, if so, then (from a personal point of view) it's not worth while entering because all one has to do is choose one, two or more horses priced at 33/1 plus and hope one, two or more wins and pays in excess of (say) R 40.00, which is not beyond the realms of possibility. So you could end up with a situation where someone has picked (just say) 4 winners and 5 placed horses and still ends up loosing because of the example given above. All one needs to do is pick the biggest outsider in that last race and hope it wins and pays close to R 100.00 should the points be allocated as described above. Theoretically speaking, one may not pick a winner or placed horse right up to the last race, yet in theory I have R 200.00 riding on the last race, yet in the real world if one placed the R 200.00 in the first race and ran unplaced, you would be out, correct? Why not stick to a points scoring system like previous ABC competitions (say), 5 points for a win, 3 for second and 1 for third. Whilst I am keen to participate, once again, you need to clarify the points scoring system.
Thanks Buddy.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

hi bayern, we had now a few comps such as this somewhere else , if it works on normal points like it use to for example 5 points win 3 points 2nd 1 point 3rd the guys all just go with safety first and select 90% the fav of a race like the fools studying newspapers. with this tab payout points system the guys have tried to just hit the favorites and came up short and the guys going for absolute donkeys also . all the comps were won by guys knowing when to go wins and where to go places and who found the VALUE and CONSISTENCY and you really will see where guys go for value and who just toss around picking favorites.
