Good news for S.A. soccer as Manchester City commence coaching of youngsters and form a partnership with local team Black Aces from July 2013.

Definitely xciting news for S.A. youth, who knows this could be the beginning of big opportunities for local aspiring soccer pros with a chance of entering the big league overseas.

Would be interesting to watch developments over the next 3 years as the programme kicks off with a 3 year commitment to uplifting S.A. soccer coaching and youth.(tu)

I am sure Ajax Amsterdam had a similar deal in place with Ajax Cape Town. Cannot remember any players making it in Holland recently from SA but hopefully something happens for someone with Man City.

Agree, really it's becoming a bit of an embarrassment when countries like Ethiopia and Botswana start to upstage our boys.

Is it something to do with the diets, too much soda, fried chicken n chips, or are the rest of our Africa counterparts still " unsoft " due to tougher economic conditions and less prima donna tags???

Mike if you look at the breeding ground, ie the juniors, barring maybe Jhb, the Amateur leagues are badly run. The school systems in cricket and rugby are well-controlled and run for all ages so any young talent is mostly spotted and looked after. There are no systems in place for football.
