Who cares, its not like it is a conspiracy - if MDK or someone of the kind assists say a smaller trainer...

Fact remains, that Adam is the trainer and Basil can be the advisor, what makes that so wrong :S

If I was in Adam's shoes, I too would want my dad around...

BTW what did Basil say to the jock?

Really cant believe someone is making a fuss over this? you know if you going to Adam to train your horses, you getting his old mans expertise with it... why is that a bad thing?

BM has tons of knowledge in this game, im sure not everyone likes everyone , but the advice to give his son and jocks sure counts alot as you getting the first hand know hows from a legend himself.

I like the Tobie Spies and Corne Spies team, seems like they really work well with all the travelling that's clocked.

Was a big fan of Basil Marcus and he gave us plenty of wonderful memories with Hedge, Singing Boy, Foveros, Rock Star,
Model Man, Enforce and so many others...........................................BUT, unlike our Michael Roberts who always came back and rode when the UK season ended, sadly we waited in anticipation but Basil never did come back to S.A.racing and put a leg across a horse, sure a lot of fans would have appreciated it.

I always thought horse racing was a game of poker played on 4 legs . WINNER TAKES ALL .

And why on earth can't the "assistant" give instructions in the parade ring? BM rides work every morning still, and being an ex jockey he probably has a good idea of the best way the horse should be ridden in the race? I find this whole post pointless...so what if he is well liked or not?

Nobody seems to be complaining about Justin and his father Chris being in the parade ring giving instructions.I personally think that Adam and his dad Basil are two of the friendlier trainers in the Cape unlike some of their fellow trainers who think they shite custard on a Sunday.Enough said.

From what I have read on previous threads (and I have been following most of the threads posted), fantasy you are trying to shift focus from the real issue.

For the record 1 Tooth, i have nothing against the A/B Marcus team & don't care who does & doesn't like them neither do i have anything personal against them . All i said was that the rules should apply to everyone. I/we do not have all the information however if Adam is the registered trainer and Basil is back is SA registered as an assistant to Adam then no problem giving instructions. However if Basil is back and re-registered as a Trainer then he cannot give another trainers runners instructions unless they have registered as A & B Marcus as joint trainers and this appears in the official race card.

I for one am tired of the rules being stretched & bent for some and not for others as this where all the sh1t starts and this does not mean that this is the situation so maybe we should get some clarity on this. As for the rest of the opinions on if he is a good or bad guy or if he had anything to do with getting boxes from Mac, frankly i dont care.
