who is the trainer the father or the son
12 years 1 month ago
I heard that Basil Marcus could not get boxes after he came back from overseas ,so his son took out a trainers license, and was given boxes as well,I went to races the other day and saw Basil giving instructions to the jockey and his son that is the trainer standing two meters away listening to his father, every one knows this is Basil behind this yard, this is misleading information to the jockey club, to me the jockey club only protect's big names in racing and not the small names, as for the stripes in cape town go,they are useless.why is it that every trainer I spoken to dose not like Basil, if this is a good man why do people dislike him as they do.is it a power game or kick a man when he is down, like john mac, this is an ongoing story about Basil and john Mac, leave the people alone and worry about your self, teach your son good things not bad as you are doing, anyway that's it hope you feel good by destroying a fallow trainer, that has been struggling for years, the wheel is round your turn will come.

Are there two sides to Marcus? I only see the side on TV where he seems very nice - There have been posts about him before about some dealings. I think his results were excellent .. I just don't know but I do think he is a good trainer from his results

I believe the point is that the registered trainer has someone else giving instructions in the parade ring......

Then why is he a trainer, Basil should be find for misleading the jockey club, they should apply for a joint trainers license, right or wrong.I have never heard one person have anything nice to say about him, even people that have worked for him say he's a #%*.

If MDK is out of town who gives the jocks instructions when on a MDK trained horse?
not trying to be funny, just that I dont watch trainers / chats in parade ring on the tele...

Sometimes I cringe with some of the posts on the site
I know it's not always easy talking positive about our industry but we have a new crop of father/sons coming through the ranks, MDK, Azzie, Van Zyl, Marcus etc, to take SA to a new level with hopefully reductions in the regulations to sending horses overseas.
If I had my dad Basil in the parade ring with me to talk to a local jock and give some tips or hints from one of the best jocks we have ever produced, I would be over the moon.
All the best to the Marcus lads and their dad (tu)
