They should have ruled the race nul and void as jockeys never rode there mounts correctly in first part of the race.

One certainly couldn't,he was stuck behind the starting stall.!

Rules are rules but you cant be in a situation were if the horse that gate never opened would have won the race you collect and if he runs 5th disqualified.
free bets are a no go.

dont think many people were aware of any rule change.

If they had taken us punter into consideration when they adjusted this ruling there would not have this problem. When we punt a place on a horse the placing is adjusted according to the number of runners in the race. How can they make a ruling like this and not take number of runners into consideration because if you have only four starters what's use of this rule? Like they have objections the stipes should have talk to relevant parties first!

So if there are 3 horses in a race and horse A gate opens ate but he runs 50 metres back in 3rd that horse is still declared a runner... But surely he hasn't been given a WINNING CHANCE by the gate not opening??

i was thinking along the same lines YCENTAUR as far as only 4 horses running in a race.....
