Shot 3 to1 betting world I took 20000 to 6600

Brasss my 5cents. Your horse has already been labled with this claim and the punting public will remember this. This will obviuosly affect his future pricing as well. In my humble opinion one must take a win no matter the betting moves. A first timer, if claimed, can only be your stables money, but for future races he belongs to the 'public"as it were. I have been in the same boat and feels so wrong and unfair. All the best and I hope you enjoy your win !!

....sh!t with all the lack of transpanency and okes pulling moves.....who needs to have an on the nose punt at resprictive odds and land up getting a place.....FFS the horse in question is far from being a star and if there was not this thread none would be the wiser exept the one that jumped the gun and grabbed the early 20/1......if all where hush the way to tap the oppertunity is to float this boy in the exotics and hope for a payout.....if this horse was not thrust into the spotlight and had the senior jock up I would have found it anyway and included in a small swinger play and if 40/1 a tiny EW.....You can take the shorts now and I will find the other dog for a drum.....Mienie up is overkill.....what was needed is an unsuspecting claimer just to point it and if it missed ....the places and other exotics could have been worth it.....:S

If you punt regularly with a bookie ,say Keith Ho , if he suspects you will come for your horse , he will most surely claim it .

Its not necceseraly the public who claim these horses . Always remember bookies wanna lay the shortest odds possible !

spot on solo the majority of these claims are by bookies who think the price is to big and they know they will lay much shorter so they claim the pathetic 25k inorder to reduce their liability...rather lay 200k to 80k than 200k to 40k..our bookmaking industry is comical and punters follow it blindly

Today is the 4th time in 5 meetings that as Hollywood betting comes out 5 of our horses are shortened within 4 minutes. We have not had a penny on any Friday runner in fact Daffodil Day , shortened today from 12/1 to 6/1, was scratched yesterday at 2 30pm as she received a 2kg penalty for her Mon win.

Race 1 Mod Barley 6/1 to 7/2
Race 2 Moeda D Ouro 9/2 to 7/2 and she is the first runner for 2 new owners in the yard.
Race 3 Desert Emblem 5/1 to 33/10
Race 9 Oh So Easy 33/1 to 20/1

Monday 4th March in Kmb we had 2 favorites at 12/10. Both claimed by a bet of 20000/16000. One got beat and one was scratched at the start. Who can spend that kind of money in Kmb.?

We have phoned Clyde Becker from Hollywood for an explanation....

Clyde has replied very promptly with the Hollywood explanation.

When the fields come out on a Monday they have a person that does the pricing up.

When they open betting on Wed they then do adjustments to what they feel are the correct percentages which accounts for the changes. However he understands that by giving 2 lines of betting it may look as though horses are being claimed. This won't happen again.

A big thumbs up to Clyde and Hollywood for this quick response.
