A comparison of Rugby and Football players.;)

I heard a very good comparison last night. Football players spend 90 minutes trying to look hurt where as Rugby players spend 80 minutes trying not to look hurt!

Craig I would say , Difference not comparison .
The biggest diff between Top soccer and rugby players is the salary !!
Rooney something like 300 000 pounds a week ???

LOL! Toooo true!
Heard of a Brit rugby commentator once (no names) that got more and more irritated commentating a game, when players kept on going off because they were hurt. At last he snapped, re one of them, "Oh you ... you ... soccer player!"
Dreadful insult, that.

No its ONLY 250,000 per week.! Rugby is played by the elite and soccer is played by mainly the poor, as Rooney was growing up. I think only in Wales and New Zealand is Rugby the Number 1 sport. Most of the top soccer players in soccer weigh between 80- 90 kgs and are under 6 foot. What position would they play in rugby ? Barcelona,Real Madrid, Man United,Arsenal get over 70,000 per week and most major clubs get over 40,000 every home game in Rain,Wind or Snow. I know several Sharks rugby supporters who after Super 15 finishes never watch the Currie Cup unless it is is a semi-final or final.
It is the passion of the fans that is the difference between the 2 sports. Rugby is a game watched by Gentlemen and played by Thugs, Soccer is the opposite or so I was told at a young age.

Devon Air, Scotia has it the right way around. Plenty players around 80-90kgs playing Super Rugby. GB that is one of the reasons i hardly watch football now. The diving and my pet hate, the lack of respect shown by many/most football players to the ref. Rugby and Cricket respect the Ref/Umpires decisions and get on with it. Richie77, you are probably better with a computer than me so please put a picture of say Wayne Rooney or any footballer next to say that fat rugby player Pierre Spies, both with thier shirts off.
