every one now that markus jooste is biggest player in racing today. not far behind is chris van niekerk. if these guys leave racing their is big trouble. i am told steinhoff is in serious financial trouble by a friend and i laugh at him. then he ask me to read this article and i am shocked.

now if their is problems what will happen if jooste and v niekerk have to liquidate? i dont believe i am wrong in say that racing is in big trouble. plenty people will loose jobs and some trainer will go bust. what will happen to expecial west cape racing? if i am employ by jooste i do not sleep good tonight

many sleepmasters shops owned by steinhoff have closed in the uk and there are some financial problems but who knows .Big names have tried to control horseracing in s a and they have all fallen ,to name a few Podlas Hurvitz Skoldhammer Harmse brothers ,all have failed.

@easy:
'Sad to say I asked this question years ago but people insist 1 man is good for the game.'
Whilst I still have some interest left (and the teeth getting bigger!), I call upon like-minded punters/owners/trainers to get together and approach Government to re-structure the industry as before, or, with a totally indepedent operator .
It can be done!
@unhappy:
agree, but they did not attempt on the scale as we've seen; absolute control!

@fh:
'now i find the other article and i begin to think maybe this business day has the problem with markus jooste?'
true, but still a worry that the industry devolves around one or two persons (as even observed by Barry Irwin).
