Wouter, you don't need to show them anything or ask for any permission. They are getting their word out there themselves by posting on twitter.

@ Don

my thoughts are that "the public" can never be given too much information. As for odds changing etc let me tell you a story.

Once i decided to play a bit of online texas holdem. Not much stakes $0-25 $0-50 blinds. I played on a table for over 3 hours and 5 of the other players were there for the same period. Right at the start i told all the players via the "chat" function that if they asked me i would tell them what cards i held. At 1st they thought i was bluffing BUT i was not. I really told them exactly what i was holding. Sometimes i folded , sometimes i lost and never mucked and they saw the truth and of course sometimes i won and they saw the truth.

The reason i am telling this is because NO matter what information people have they will ALWAYS make up their own minds.

THE PROBLEM , is when people that study for ages and think all is ok find out 2 weeks later the horse had not eaten up for 4 days.

That in itself might NOT be a problem, the horse might not eat up and WIN, BUT at least a studier of form or a gatherer of information can record this fact.

SO if one looks at timed workouts in the staes or the abundence of information in Hong Kong....you will see that 50/1 shots still win. there are still carryovers.....its just a bit easier for the punter to swallow because he feels that he had all the info he needed at his fingertips.

This ifformation thing is at the heart of phumelela failings, be it with their lack of supprt for formgrids or the piss poor publications they put out.....they really need to be giving out (proactively procurring) as much info as possible. If they did this people would be betting on racing more

If an owner insists that the well being etc of his horses is not made public knowledge then the stable is obliged to adhere to these requests ,for eg Im sure that if any of us have an unraced horse that is working up a storm, we would not want the yard to yell it from the roof tops in the interests of transparency and if they did and the horse failed to reproduce the work on the track there is little doubt they would be slated and accused of misleading the racing public, imo it's a lose lose situation for any yard to divulge stable information unless they are fortunate enough to have their horses run up to their expectations on a regular basis and any racing person will know how unlikely that is...its the nature of the beast, horses are put on this planet to make fools of us all so I believe that we should respect the decisions of yards that choose not to discuss their runners and be thankful for those who are prepared to take the chance (Shams a good example)

Flash I remember you in your punting days and the difference for you between 5/1 and 2/1 could mean more the 300K in your profit line, Im sure that you would have prefered your stable to keep quite until you got on your own horse, there are some owners today that also put big money and ask for silence so they can get the price, what must a stable do then?
