As most of you know, Pippa sent Val da Ra to the UK where our champiuon sprinter has been successfully mated to top sprint sire there, Oasis Dream. Now I see, the Aussies want to do the same with Black Caviar but have mooted Frankel as being the sire of choice. I would have thought that VAR would have been a smarter selection but god forbid that the Aussies would ever consider an SA based stallion. Perhaps we could persuade the Var syndicate to offer BC a free service - not an insignificant offer considering VAR's current service fee! Ha, Ha. Can you see the Aussies even considering it?.

....Monty you got the geography, maths and genetic science all wrong.....BC is going back to the UK to contest a few races before going to one of the sires in the UK.....stake money will hopefully cover her covering fee or she may even get a freebie.....cannot ever think that the connections would ever concider any sire on the African continent no matter what they are......the risks are far too great....once you have conquered UK why on earth would you want to come to a country that is still battling to be recognised as a potentail breeding no where land.....:S

You are far too serious . I wrote with tongue in cheek which was very obvious (pls read again)
But as a matter of interest, Val da Ra is being mated to Southern Hemisphere time as will be BC.
SA breeders are doing this scientifically on a regular basis.

Yeah....we the gr8est...at everything.....:S

.....but seriously it is far easier to get a cover from top stallion out of the Northern Hemisphere season.....most would have full books for the in season
.
This is why shuttling came about.....a sire would then cover all year round
