What do the clanners make of his Derby win?
Me still thinks he stayed the trip and in fact found another gear in the last 100m.
Even though under pressure!!seems to me,imo, that he is still a live wire for the July

Agree! Shaun Tarry made a valid point in pre met interview! Soutth african punters only give credit to horses running on! We dont recognise horses that go the front and make all. He was taLking abt Pomodoro! Thats the reason why many trainers cannot find the right distance for many of theiir horses! Jockeys cant judge pace! Overall the declining quality of jockeys will result in more upset results!

For me he clearly doesnt stay ...was a slow run race 3 seconds off the Met time.Definately a better miler and will be interesting to see if Kannemeyer even tries the Daily News....on King of Pains run in The Met he may have beaten CTN in The Derby.

Boys, you cannot simply go on time......
If KOP was in the Derby he would have trailed in next to Ze Kaiser off that slow run pace, unless he balzed to the front with the blinkers on and risked falling in a hole.
Each race should be viewed on its merits and not compared simply based on time.
I think CTN will be competitive in the July only because good milers can win the July.
I don't think he wil stay a true run 2000m event at Turffontein or any other tough track around.
But he won on Saturday, he is now a dual G1 winner and boy, he doesn't run, he simply floats.

I don't think the Derby gave us any indication if he stays 2000 or not, due to a crawl. Agree with Tommy the Greyville circuit is not the toughest 2200 around and could be a runner in the July.

Re: Re: Capetown Noir

.......did they intentionally make it a very slow run race to make sure CTN see out the 2000m.....their was 7 proven frontrunners in the race and still they made it a crawl....what was their intention with a superstar miler in the race that will outgun them if they dont make him stretched in a true run race.....was it to suit CTN ?????? He will never again beat this field if it was a true run race ......on time he would have finish 7 lenghs behind the last horse in the J&B .....what a disgrace ....5 other horses within 1,5 lenghs behind him .......I will say it again,he cannot run a true run race over 2000m......
7 frontrunners with a 7/20 miler that have stamina doubts .....why no pace ???never said it was fixed....but and explanation is needed....why would all 7 frontrunner's trainers instruct the jockeys to make the pace as slow as possible to give the champion miler his only chance of winning....
.karl did ride a great race but the other jockeys gave the race to him.....fact.....CTN is a champion miler and was lucky that their was no pace from 7 pacemakers in a 12 horse field......

lol...Cape Town Noir defied all odds and critics by winning over 2000m and that's what's important!!! .....He is a top horse and really did not show his usual burst of accelleration which can be excused over the distance....Greyville will catch the best of them out and my advice is to start looking for the fastest 400m horses and follow them up the the big one...later clanners
