Trifecta commingling commences....peanuts payouts yet pools get carried over???...........................

Tomorrow sees the Trifecta pools commingling with those in the UK. If the results stats on RacingPost are anything to go by on, the pools are peanuts in UK.

Uk got the crowds at the courses but the pools are crap

Did any clanners win a portion of the above pools and if so what dividends were received, would be interesting to know???

we dont use the tote much in the uk,the majority of tote dividends come from the on course totes..

so Monday at Plumpton there would be 3 sheepdogs and a farmer on track = pish pools

Also the last couple of months 3 swinger dividends are shown but it also says certain amount is carryover. Surely even the swinger is caught 1 time that person is entitled to the whole amount.

Dear Dave,herewith response to the mentioned query below.

At the outset,the plan to commingle into the UK Tote started a few years
ago,and due to system Limitations on their side(could NOT accept fractional
bets)we could not do so.We then sorted out the system limitations and
started commingling earlier this month.It is very important to underStand
that a R 1 unit bet struck in SA represents approximately 8%(exchange rate
dependent) of a Full Unit (1x) bet,thus when a Local punter plays a
Trifecta for R 6 and the Ticket will display 1x,that means his bet
represents approximately 8% of the Total Trifecta Pool,so If he is the only
winning ticket he would get a dividend representing that % , and the
remainder of the Pool would be carried over,as seen in your examples
below.The question that you would pose to me then,is WHY doesn't our ticket
show the actual % taken,we cannot as you are aware that our system,in which
the bets are struck is Set to a R 1 unit,so a 3 horse box Trifecta that
cost R 6, is shown as taken 1 x on the ticket.

Yes,the UK punters are NOT huge exotic players,and their Pools are average
on normal race meetings but are significantly higher on their Bigger Race
Days,in saying that,there is a huge opportunity for a SA punter to scoop a
pool if he had to take a Trifecta for about 13 x on average.Which will
denote a Full pound unit.They have Trifecta carryovers regularly and  the
UK Tote only introduced Trifecta's on All races towards the end of
2012,these pools will gradually gather momentum soon.

That's it folks, what it boils down to is that the exchange rate of 13 to 1 means you getting squeezed in the dividends even if the Trifecta pools are made up of more rands than pounds.

No more value I'm afraid, giving it a miss from now on.

Yes absolutely, Greg, what it means is even if the S.A. portion of the pool is greater, in other words what SA punters wagered, the payouts will be based on UK currency and payouts, so effectively if the Trifecta pool was say R6,000-- and the SA contribution was R5,000-- and the pool was not won, then if you had a full unit...= 1 x YOU WILL NOT GET A DIVIDEND OF R6000-- BUT 8 % OF THAT CARRYOVER AMOUNT ONLY!!! WHICH AMOUNTS TO ABOUT R480-- ONLY.

We were far better off with the stand-alone SA Pools from a punters perspective.(td)
