Hi All
Have been thinking of Dutching especially in tommorow' s big fields on Fairview.
Is dutching illegal in SA? Because it seems that nowhere in SA do the bookies allow this; for this reason I tried registering on UK betting sites and they block my IP address saying that they cannot accept my registration due to my Jurisdiction. If anyone has any info on where I can use this betting type be it in SA or abroad, please let me know. I am also interested in sports dutching.

Not sure you can use the word illegal with dutching as its only backing more than one horse or team to minimize your risk in an event.
I am sure most bookies don't like punters winning ( except Interbet) being an exchange.
A few punters will look for the best odds on an event where u can't lose and just make a small percentage profit eg you can back home away and draw with 3 different bookies at the best odds and make a profit but getting on might be a problem with the stakes if they are high?

Good punting!

You can dutch with any bookies and as Scotia says you may at times back all outcomes in an event with different bookies which offer different prices on the same outcome to ensure a profit . i have attached a dutching calculator.

just type the profit you want to achieve and the odds of your selections in the allotted spaces , then under the stake column you will see how much is needed to stake to achieve your target profit .

Attached files dutching calc.xls (25 KB)Â

For Pulse, Pirohbeta and other clansmen:

Apparently "dutching" owes its name to a mafia guy commonly known as Dutch Schultz. He hired a very clever accountant who would quickly (and probably mentally) calculate the effective price of a spread of horses but the favourite. Dutch Schultz would then go and "fix" the favourite.

You can read about him on Wiki en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_Schultz

It is much harder to Dutch book on SA races because of the high percentages that bookies work to.
