I apologise in advance
12 years 7 months ago
Just getting ready to make the trip onto the A316 and then the M3 towards Ascot.
I am going there because myself and Vickie were at Newmarket the day he won the 2000 guineas and what a day it was.
Its now a few years later and Frankel is being touted as superhorse. Even I fell into this category, on a previous thread i rated him above certain horses i now retract that statement.
Frankel is superb, Frankel is great BUT if the going today is his achilles heal then he is not. We already (by admission) know that as a 3 year old he was "too headstrong" to contemplate the Derby., another weakness?
So here is where i stand, if Frankel can beat Cirres by GREATER than 8 lengths then he is the best if not then i have to say that the following 2 horses as 3 year olds imho were better than Frankel.
# 1 Is a GREAT horse and possibly the best
Dancing Brave
# 2 Is a great horse and excellent 3 year old.
Sea The Stars
Both my selections have the same thing in common, the won an ARC. I regard the ARC as a genuine barometer for greatness, the competition is from all over and being in october often the going is testing.
Frankel is 13 from 13, in these 13 races he has been amazing BUT has he been challenged?
A true champion needs to be challenged not because we want him beat but we need to know that what is behind him is also above average.

greg
the day he won at newmarket i rung parlotone straight away and said book ticket to come see him in the arc. I really thought he would go through them all as a 3 year old.
we will see today, i have stuck in a lay bet because i think he is vulnerable on this ground.

2 days ago on talksport Lord Grimthorpe was asked
Alan Brazil " Lord Grimthorpe, is there any chance he will run as a 5 year old?"
LG " mmm well all i can say is that I dont think so but it could happen"
NOW if Frankel runs as 5 year old and sweeps all before him including more than the modest 25 G1 winners he has net so far then i will accept that he is the greatest ever.

Love the publicity Frankel is getting.... I was watching Skysport yesterday and they crossed
over to Asot 3 times...2 gents were walking the course discussing the going .... Not sure if this would of happened if Frankel was not carded to run.
