Arlington Friday
12 years 7 months ago
After more rain last night a track inspection was made this afternoon. 2 jockeys galloped the track and a decision was made that we will race tomorrow subject to there being no more rain tonight.

Forecast I've read has 8mm rainfall between 5 and 8am in PE Dorrie and then clearing up a little... if that is accurate do you think it will be off?

Arlington should be able to handle just about that in that time frame. The course drains very well and needs that time to be able to race so " hold thumbs"

Thanks Dorrie, very helpful, will get on study then...
Being a bit cheeky, but especially as it is PE racing tomorrow and thus a little more appropriate, I've noticed that Dorrie's post regarding the function they have coming up has not had as many views as other threads, possibly because its at the top of the page and is not being noticed by all. Hopefully by mentioning it here where there are often numerous views it might bring it to the attention of more clanners. I genuinely don't mean to put pressure on anyone but it would be great if Clanners could show support for Dorrie and her team, who have been so good to ABC with her regular updates, for this good cause. A few bids on items wouldn't go amiss... obviously don't if you can't afford it etc and I am sure there will be a few at the function with big bucks to outbid any offers but it would be good if she went with starting offers already received on some or all of the lots. Anyway, it would be good if some got involved but if you can't or don't want to then that is understandable of course
Apologies to anyone (Dave and Bob included) who feels this comment is misplaced, just trying to help their cause! (tu) Anyone that upset with me please pm me so the racing thread isn't ruined!

Assuming racing goes ahead looks like another very competitive card, complicated further by probable soft conditions. Shams look to have a number of runners with chances and will be interesting to hear their opinions... just wait for conditions update first I suppose!

Again one of those easy cards(just joking). I don't know but I never get it right in PE maybe the Sham stable can give us one that will place above 5-1 and then I can also say I won something there. Tanx Sham stable I know you will give the clan one and hope you have a great day

Not good news on the weather front in PE this morning.
It is still raining, and all forecasts are for more rain during
the day.

Since all the horses were moved from Arlington,
is it fair to gallop 2 jockeys?

Looking at the weather forecasts, Monday racing at Arlington could
also be in trouble.
Windguru for Port Elizabeth
After 3 years of drought, PE has had 3 mini floods this year. From severe
water restrictions 12 months ago, with only enough water in the supply
dams for 2 weeks at one stage, all the dams are now overflowing.
Sometimes you just can't beat the weather!
