@JustinV - Is it not easier then to make your picks? If you are someone who looks at the merit ratings, then surely this a sign in your books to fire on phenomenal?

nope richie i dont bet in handicaps..its hard enough to bet on winners in racing with all the things that can go against you in running, to bet with the weights against you as well to me is pointless...

{rolls out the same old chestnut}... Phenomenal races off a MR92 !! The conditions of the race allow a weight for age allowance of 6.5kgs.... and if it was further , say over 1400m's ... the CONDITIONS of the race (or WFA conditions) would be 8 kg's.... for 3yr olds and 0.5kg's for 4 yr olds... that does nt change the fact she has been rated and lumped with an mr of 92. JustinV .... 10 days ago what was the allowance for a 2yr old ? Was Phenomenal a 108 and they lowered her MR when she turned 3 ? Will they drop her by 13 mr's over 1000m's in an MR76 when she turns FOUR no matter what ??

rated and lumped with a 92??? did she or did she not win a handicap?? was the92 then too high..or too low??

not about experts or dumb or clever..its about not judging people when one doesnt know enough to form an educated opinion..there are many things i know nothing about..accounting being one,but im not going to question an accountants sanity when i dont know whats going on

I have the greatest respect for Handicappers - They study the form for you (they are not always right obviously) but in general the MR is the first thing I look at

OR agree 100%(tu). These weight for ages thing - I really battle to understand this and wish someone (when he/she has the time) can give a good simple explanation how this works.

@englander.... extra zing gets an 82 for one win..it runs downfield...phenomenal gets a 92 and wins...but everyone cant believe phenomenal is a 92 and no1 has a problem with extra zing?? why
