they need to take a leaf out the uk presenters ....while that lady presenter annoys me with tht decimal odds thing...on the whole she is very very clued up...she sums up a race in 1 minute...and just by that info...one can actually decide on a bet ,based on her summary....yesterday i listened to punch and judy for a 5 minute preview on the last race..and decided it wasn't a race to back on....because they confused me....really...they are doing their job descriptions a disservice

The sniffing girl in the UK is 100% better than those two - I listen to what she says but I'm reaching the level of other people now and the mute button is calling - they each need to watch Sky news or Sky Business to learn how to control their playground humour - they are just unprofessional

I'm not sure who the guy was from the UK (angus?) who came out to SA a year ago maybe but he did a few stints at Goodwood or Ascot as a guest and showed SA what real presenters should do - The guy was even up on SA Graded form .
I think more would be acheived if one of the two that go to the Vaal would interview trainers for the Saturday meeting instead of talking each other into an episode of "HE said, She said"

By whom? This industry has already conclusively proven that it is leaderless and mismanaged. So , amongst others, we have the following :
The terminally stupid and functionally illiterate Julie A.
Mc Curdie.......I have nothing to say after listening to his inanities.
Molly - Where in the world does a presenter ( other than perhaps Channel O or on a wannabe gangsta programme ) sit in the studio in shaded/tinted glasses?
Pretorius - who shouts at us when he gets excited and nauseatingly brown noses the industry.
Cohen - who swallows all of his vowels
I could go on but who is remotely interested ? It's the R20 tote punters who drive the turnover and they are largely voiceless so we are easy to ignore.
Nevertheless - all of the above did plenty to kill off my interest and support. But thanks anyway - I'm really enjoying the extra disposable income.

Does anyone have any suggestions on who could replace these "incompetent" presenters?
I suggest "T Factor - the countrywide search for new Telly Track Presenters"... You can all have a go. The members of this forum can be the judges. (Even Simon Cowell would cringe at some of the critical comments made by some of the members here). And I'm guessing there will no no winners at the end of the day, because they will be paid of by some bookmakers to "go missing", and "do the punters in")

Ruby, Like it or not punters are racing without them there is no racing and no pretty hairdo`s
the operators are also nothing without punters and there is no other industry i can think of that the main clients are treated with such contempt

Hibs. I visited every single TAB in the Wetern Cape at least twice and all the BW outlets during August and September last year. I spent time punting with them , chatting with them about the 'good old days '. There are many who see a day at the Tote as their social get together and are there every single day to meet with friends and bet. They also criticise poor rides , bad tipping and also compliment a good ride . To me the mix was wrong : The dedicated small punter in Mitchells Plain (venues are full) watches TT on a small TV , has inferior tables/chairs and toilet areas when compared to the more upmarket areas. They have 5 plasma's , acceptable furniture , clean toilet areas and are empty (maybe 5 punters ). Since then I make mention of the R10 punter and attempt to find value for them because if they can go home with a R100 profit it is huge. I was blown away when I aked them about having a weekly draw at each outlet on a Friday where the weeks losing tickets are put into a bin with their name on. This enables them to have a real chance of winning. They love the idea BUT their answer hit home me when I asked what they would like to win " We just want to win the Computaform for the next week " so we can share that amongst our friends. Makes you think. I agree with you that the small player is vital and that he is neglected. This was all put into a report and passed on.It was an eye opening two months and I now know where the 'heartbeat of racing " is.

did you also noticed that the sound is turned off and they can not here any comments and if the sound is on it is for the soccer, about 50% of those who met their friends is for the soccer and are clueless and oblivious to horse racing, sometimes the ques for soccer bets are so long that there is no room for regular punter to move , must struggle to get to tote race after race and what does P and GC care? at our tote you even have to pay to pee because P do not have money to pay a person to clean the toilets.
So i ask him, the toilet attendant where do the money go so he says he keeps and he makes about R300 -500 a day! and boy If you do not pay he will attack you, the R1 he charges is nothing but just the thought that i have to pay to use the toilet facilities and this guy walks away with that amount of money per day that irks me
