What kind of a run was that ?

7-10 in the morning and drifted off the boards. Even saw 28-10 on offer at Betfair on the jump.

Anyone with any answers ?

I think an enquiry must be called for. I have no doubt somebody knew something here. All we call for is transparency and accountability. The punting public deserve an explanation. I can accept that horses do not always run to form, but when a horse drifts so badly and runs accordingly then the authorities must look into it.

Harris did you make a 7/10 shot ?

To be fair in my opinion that was a false price . When i saw 7/10 i was puzzled . I thought 16/10 was more realistic .

Harris if you feel strongly about this then

The National Horseracing Authority Crime Line number is 0800 204 568. It will go to a voice mail , you can then leave a message.

Or you can contact the Special Investigator for The National Horseracing Authority on 011 683 9283(office) or at riaan@nhra.co.za.

All information can be dealt with on a confidential basis.

I did it once and true as bob they held an inquiry and the jock in question was suspended .

I never thought it was a 28/10 shot and I never thought it would get beaten 9 lengths. Gavin Lerena gave it every chance. I would just like an explanation why it ran so badly. Maybe it hurt itself in the race ? I do not know.

I am making no allegations whatsoever...........but when a stable is battling, particularly with some short priced runners going missing, surely having a large bookmaking business as sponsors cannot look good for the integrity of the industry.
Isn't it like the metro police being sponsored by a Taxi association?
When I started racing it would have caused riots on the racecourse.(mind you not enough racegoers to cause a riot these days........lol)

I think bringing Lance Michael who I have allot of respect for into this might be a little harsh. Just out of interest I do know that bookmakers are not allowed to sponsor jockeys. However with regards to trainers I reckon Hollywood sponsor at least 20 of them so Sean Tarry being sponsored by a rival company should not be seen as untoward.

Rob, what did you make of Winged Captain? I thought it was a very poor field tonight and he was clearly the horse to beat. When Acapela won last time Strydom eased him down and he could easily have put another few lengths on Breezing Through and Beijing Olympics. Beijing also ran a shocker tonight but he did stay firm in the betting.

Harris ,I posted on another thread that I had 5 horses in my PA.........I thought it was a shocking race.
My point on sponsorship was not aimed at Lance Michael or Hollywood per se..........but at a situation that allows clear conflict of interest.(Taxis and police would create an uproar and the perceived conflict is not dissimilar)
To give ammunition to those who enjoy badmouthing the sport is just not smart IMO.
(Bear in mind that, where regulation is strong,Jocks or trainers are warned off for merely interacting with known gamblers)

Winged Captain has no doubt got his problems as the 9 month break between his 1st fair start and his 2nd run would attest to...however his 2nd start was a shocker and on the strength of that run was never an odds on shot..1 length behind Great Smokey who was beaten in his next start by 13L with Anton up and 1/2 L in front of River Blythe who ran unplaced in his next start with Marwing in the saddle the only 2 other runners to have come out of that race..how they saw fit to price this up a short priced favorite I cant say...having said that he still ran a poor race and may well have had a re occurrence of his early problem ...or was caught out by the 2nd run after a rest syndrome.

The fact that the same sort of thread comes about with the same stable again leads me to believe authorities should look into the matter and hopefully put any doubts to rest.
Even just to set the public's mind at ease. Knowing that there are checks and balances in place can't be a bad thing.

I have to disagree Ruff the horse ran very close to his form and had no right to be that price..the one to blame here is whoever priced up the race...

I never liked it one bit and am glad it missed a place for my pa, but all i'm saying is that maybe they can look into these threads and put the matter to bed once and for all.
