How can racing compete better against other sports for the punters rand/dollar/pound

I would love to get a punters view on what racing needs to do do to win back punters share of wallet.

Ie new betting products, ways to bet etc etc

All feedback welcome but prefer some world class ideas!!!

Better Marketing.. All over the news/Tv stations/sports channels,etc!!
I can't understand why so much advertising is done on teletrack, if u want new/more punter ADVERTISE in places where u will attract NEW people to the game..not on a channel that only puntters watch

• Please no more NEW PRODUCTS, we already have 2many imo.

• Less is more sometimes, get rid of the chariot racing, turkey crap etc.

• MEGAPOOL ... How about ALL carryovers go to the last racemeeting of the month, maybe a p6, surely having a 10-15 mil pool would generate more interest than the current system.

And as MrH says it wont,ive been involved with bookies for over 20 years.Where South Africa is now is where the Uk was 20 years ago,busy betting shops etc.UK bookies used to state that horseracing used to make up 90% of their business now its heading towards 20%.

Now uk online bookies are based abroad to avoid levy and taxes,betting shops are empty and mid week races are worth about R20k to the winner.

How about what we do in UK.
A lot of bookies do 1st past the post,if your horse wins and loses race in stewards room you still collect and you collect
on official winner.With SA stewards making so many mistakes regarding reviews this would stop all the feelings of being robbed.
Some lose the race with minimal contact and some keep races when there has been bad interference,its not consistent.

Most our books have a money back on your horse if it looses in the boardroom...

I agree..Why must the J&B and July only show on national tv once a year? Rugby games etc gets shown almost everyweek. Not everyone has access to Tellytrack. Why don't they advertise big races weekly on Sabc 1, 2 or 3 here in South Africa?

Pay the bet even though you are 1 leg out, treating the losing leg as a 'scratching'
