There's NO LOYALTY in racing anymore... was there ever ?

There's just no more loyalty in racing anymore. Let me explain.
Honeyview, winner last time with Benny Dean on top..........This jock's winners are few & far between & I'm sure every winner is PRECIOUS TO HIM.
When noms came out last week, Benny was 1st of all carded to ride this horse AGAIN....... & why not he was a winner last time. In fact he's run 4th, 2nd, 1st on this horse. Then Benny gets JOCKED OFF...... looks like a NEW STABLE jock has got the ride. ( let's see what happens when the "old " stable jock comes back after injury )
3 x weeks ago ELVIS JNR.... runs a good 3rd, shd, shd at 33/1 the biggest outsider in the race. Did she get the ride next time ? NO M v.r. did............ & horse sh!t in at 7/1 beating a hot odds on favourite.
There is no more loyalty in racing any more, or very little, & i think most of the trainers are worse than the jocks as far as loyalty is concerned.
Yes there are times when a jock wins on 2 horses last time out & they meet each other NEXT TIME, so the jock has to pick 1 x ride & upset the " other " trainer.... this is understandable.
For me as a small time owner, I may have 1 or 2 winners a year if I'm lucky................. any jock who wins on my horse can DEFFINITELY have the ride again next time, if they wish & if they can make the weight.

You are right he should have been offered the ride again unless they had a fall out. Happened to Lucian Africa on Orbit War as well and probably worse as he won the Christmas Hcp and then got taken off for the Michael Roberts a smaller feature. Not sure what the reason was but had quite a few people hot under the collar about it. Even the press had a go at them down here.Love to know the reason.

Maybe ask titch, muzi rode him next time out and if i recall, titch said something about a misunderstanding resulting in lucian getting the ride when it won the first time.
I agree that the incumbent jockey should be offered the ride first, i think that is only fair.

The mix up actually came in the acceptances for the Xmas hadicap where Orbit War drew very wide in the weights and it looked like he wouldnt run,the field finished up with 12 runners and Muzi had already taken a ride so Lucian was given the ride,Muzi was then put back on in the Michael Roberts with the plan to go for the Wolf Power in Jhb if he ran well ,Muzi will now ride him in the WP on the 4th Feb...Lucian rode a pearler but it should be remembered that Muzi was the intended rider in Xmas until the mix up and not Lucian,
Having said that I am sure that Lucian will justifiably feel hard done by as Muzi did after the Xmas handicap were a misunderstanding had in fact cost him a feature race winner...as far as Elvis jnr goes she too has every reason to feel hard done by especially in the case of Rain King as she did absolutely nothing wrong and there is very little doubt she would have won on him in his next start given the chance.

I don't ever remember a trainer inviting me for an opinion as to who should or may ride my horse.
So I've had no opportunity to be loyal. Having said that, no jockey has been loyal to any of my horses. Even when they have won on them, if a better ride appears they off without a word.
I wouldn't dream of interfering with my current trainer's booking of riders, he has to work with the jockeys.

I'm with Jack on this one, for the most part. Loyalty works both ways.

Has been an issue as long as I can remember, Piggott on Roberto, sure Bill Williamson ? Had the mount.
I felt we tried with Breathless, Alan Fleet, he rode it first time and ran a good second, stable jockey was Tobie van Booma and Cliffy Otto asked if we wanted to change, we stuck with Alan and he won!

Jack you have a point there, but time & time again a battling jock will bring home a scrubber to a win or near win, only to find the likes of Strikers, Delp, Marwing, Marcus of this world ask for the ride next time. Marcus did exactly this probably Delpech too, end of last season where they asked for every top ride they could get, even from trainers they would NOT normally ride for, my stable included.
by the way we did turn Marcus down, cause you would never see him on one of our stable horses again, that's for sure ( unless it was a jockeys international meet where jocks are drawn from a hat )
I am proud to say that appie Habib, brought ASYLUM SEEKER for Frodo & myself from a maiden winner, thru to a Gr 2, & then a Gr1 win. we were loyal to him the whole way.
When we were racing for that MILLION rand bonus for the tripple crown, you should have seen which top jocks were after that mount ! we were drawn 15 / 16 in the sh!t house for that race, was pushed wide, jock next to us came down - we finished 5th I think, but LOYAL WE WERE - ALL THE WAY.

Elvis you are so lucky to own such a champion, would be fantastic if yourself and frodo could do a series of posts on your champ from the sales to the first run to the first graded race.
I'm sure many would love to relive your experiences with you about your champ on ABC
