Was there not a horse of this name that raced in the mid - 1970's and won the July on an objection (over Gatecrasher) ?? Also trained by Ormonde Ferraris ?? As is the Distinctly in Race 1 at Turffontein tonight....

Distinctly was interfered with by Gatecrasher and the resulting objection handed the race to Principal Boy!(originally 2nd)

gatecrasher won the race but he almost stuck distinctly over the outside rail at greyville while principalboy was minding his business finishing second down the inside rail...so objection 3rd versus 1st and principalboy gets the race...would be interesting if the same thing happened today with the new objection laws

Thanks Rob.... knew I was not totally daft. I made my biggest win on a jackpot in 1976 when Distinctly won the feature race which was the first leg of the jackpot. I caught the jackpot for R2.00.... four horses including Distinctly who was the favourite x Cover Crop 12/1 x Get Crackin 16/1 x Kebbelle (coupled with Page Boy and another from the Ale Uzent yard)....payout R15800.00

Made my debut for Union U20 - A side rugby at the tender age of 17... was busy getting soundly bliksemmed by the big guys, but took consolation from the fact that all my savings were well invested on Gatecrasher which won the July. Got home bruised and battered to hear that there was an objection and Gatecrasher lost the race.... black day :(

....Kebelle was a sales selection of my late father before he started training. He really wanted the horse but was a poor sod and got Mrs Maisey Mcurdy to buy it. Sales were still held at Milner Park show grounds. I doubt that it was in Alec Uzent's stable though, as Freddie Chappell trained it as a cracker 2-3 yr old placing in the fillies Juvinile futurities and won the listed TR Lewis Memorial at Newmarket . Alec Mcurdy made his money from owning the Greyhound Drive-Inn's and did not get on with our family. When he died my dad trained for his wife as a thank you, for finding Kebelle.

Muhti, Alec Uzent 's brother in law actually tipped me Page Boy from Alec's yard and it was part of a three way coupling (3,4,5) ..I played the jackpot for him as it was his birthday and he asked me to place a bet for him.

Magi....not saying that you are wrong...some odd rules in the day....like trainers that were nominated as proxy(stand in) when orginal trainer was not available....possible that Freddie Chapelle did a suspension or was away at the time as he took a break to go down to the coast for a couple of months. I think at that same time Mcurdy moved Queen of All to Henry Eatwell and Kebelle could have landed up some where else. I know that Eric Fordred was appy to Uzent at around that time too.
