The prices that are displayed on Tellytrack, are they courtesy of Ladbroke?? Cause if they are, as a punter, you getting shafted taking them.....:

Even hollywood is better priced than what TT displays Hibs... Must admit Sportingbet have great prices, been concentrating on them alot lately.... Tonite in the 2nd they were offering 40-1 win and 10-1 place on Triple Dream... X(

Hibs, I think bookmakers should not lay the open bet, but a friend of mine owns a shop that does huge turnover on the open bet.He contacted Phumelela to enquire about putting tote terminals at his site and no longer lay the open bet. The response was that they were only keen on putting totes in on Betttingworld premises. So with that attitude the bookmaker does not even have a choice.
In a perfect world I believe bookmakers should offer fixed odds betting and have the official tote all under one roof. It's a win win for the punter and I think that it is the best model for racing to survive.

why does the tote not lure the bookies by giving them a bigger percentage cut in order to eliminate the open bet ?

Must say Harris I am shocked by the reply from Phumelela to adding terminals? If gives them a chance to increase turnover without the added overheads of more shops.

Sounds like P operates in silos like most big corps. The right hand is patting the dog while the right foot is kicking it. (See Fin Mail topic and above).
Come on P we know you read this, please may we have a response as to why tote machines were not placed in this outlet? An indirect response via Scotia will do. We can't always debate issues on our own without response from the forces at which criticism is being leveled. In fact a response to the questions, ideas and statements made on this thread and the Fin Mail thread would be good.
It can be said that we don't have a clue what we are talking about, we have no understanding of the business. I think that we don't have a clue by design (no punter representation). What do we do but look at is what is happening in the open and come to our own conclusions.

What an appropriate response.
"Apparently" suggests that Harris and the bookmaker are BS-ing
More cutting off the nose to spite the face. Only if you do not offer the open bet will they give an agency. They are willing to sacrifice T/over for the sake of trying to make a point. Surely there are minimum T/over requirements in the agency agreement in order to qualify for an agency. If a Bookie is not meeting the requirement, pull the agency. Why dismiss an approach for an agency out of hand and turn away turnover?
These guys (bookies and Operators) need to abandon this negative approach and sit around a table and map a way forward for the good of racing. The operators should also really consider that the views of forum-ites are not always BS and we do have something positive to contribute towards the industry other than funding (I say that wearing a punters cap!). I sense by the response that we are not deserving of a proper response.
