READY TO RUN V READY TO RACE

I would like to get the forum's view on the following.

Currently there are a big hype about the upcoming ready to run sales and the "big race" that goes with it.
I think it is a god concept but I have spoken to a few owners who has bought horses from the sale that was suppose to be "ready to run" but when arriving in the yard and the trainers worked with the horses it was found that the horse(s) still needs some time to mature.

One of the trainers mentioned that he brought in new owners in the game with the idea of getting them a horse that were "ready to run" and that it were very disappointing that they had to wait for a few months before they could race their horse, unfortunately things got from bad to worse, the horse never saw the track and the new owners bailed out.(it doesn't happen in all the cases but unfortunately it happened in this case)
I can now already see that a lot of forum readers will say that you have to be patient, yes we old timers know that but surely you can not expect a new owner who are excited to be patient, they want to buy a horse and see it race.

Therefore me and a partner are looking to start a concept that we call "ready to race"
the concept will be that you buy a horse that is fully trained, fit, comes with a starting stall certificate and fully x rayed legs so that you can see the x ray before you buy. There will also be gallops and horses will be ridden by work riders.
The sale will be held somewhere between March and May giving the horse time to mature.
The idea is that you will be able to enter a horse within a week or two after purchasing the horse especially if you have new owners to the game.

I would like to get the forums members take on this topic, please try and keep your comments serious, both positive and negative comments will be appreciated, as me and my partner want to start this to benefit the game and try and draw in some new people into racing.
Please note this idea is not in opposition to the "ready to run" concept, we are just looking to explore a possible gap in the market.

waiting for your comments.

thanking you in advance for your time in responding to this post

Horses are too young for these type of gallops and work, and often you find they develop problems as soon as they start to race.

thanx Homer

at the time of the sale they will be 3-4months away of turning 3 year olds, that is why we want to make the sale that time of the year, to give them time to mature and not to push them to be ready in November, we want to give time for natural growth.

what is your take will you buy a horse on such a sale?.

It would be interesting had there been any statistics available to either confirm or 'rubbish' this statement - something like which percentage of horses from the various sales each year win a race, or 2 races, or have been placed/won graded/feature races, etc. Only then can realistic comparisions be made imo.

From a small owner's point of view, one factor that will never go away, is the cost of keep - and it surely makes sense from that point of view to buy 'later' as opposed to 'earlier'.

Not sure about the practicality of putting such a sale in place at the time mentioned - either you would have to buy the horses at earlier sales, absorbing the costs of keep, spelling, etc for anything up to a year and then still be able to sell at a profit, or be left with the absolute bottom of the barrel - all those who could not be sold at the preceding sales.

This sale and concept is gr8..... despite all the negatives that many have put forward.....but be careful as there are many no hopers just like any other sale.....what is good about this.... is that you can ,if you know what you are looking at you have a better chance of getting a horse to the track
and with the right advice can get a horse with potential......The sale is for broken 2yr olds that are largely late developers or pin-hooked imported juveniles.....majority of these horses are ready to run....on a training track....and not in a race....remember if you buy a horse without a trainers input it will always be your fault.....and if you get roaped into a horse recommenderd by a trainer.....yes it is your fault too....but you will have a host of his excuses and better luck next time....also beware of the horses selected by the panel.....these are often overhyped to get the big moola....
the shrewd judges have others in mind and seldom bid on their lists....besides some of them do not have clue on what they are looking at and have advisors that know what to bid on....also the DVD and the gallop replay on TT THE SLO MO shots will even make a cripple look like a graceful striding steed ....more smoke and mirrors.....but there is a way of beating the hype and getting an inexpensive deal that may be a contender for the RTR race and win a few heats there after.....;)
