Google knows everything. Try the figures in Google and it gives you this answer:
40 + (40 * 0) + 1 = 41
40 + (40 * 0) + 1 = 41

Agree on 41 - what would the reasoning be to get an answer = 1 ?

BODMAS applies surely?
Brackets
Operations
Division
Multiplication
Addition
Subtraction
There is no Brackets, Operations or Division so first comes multiplication?
40 + 40 x 0 + 1=?
40 x 0 = 0
therefore 40 + 0 + 1 = 41
