It has the potential to be 1, 41 or 81 if the sum had bracket in. It could be
(40 + 40) x (0+1) = 81
40 + (40 x 0) + 1 = 41
((40 + 40) x 0) + 1 = 1
But in the absence of brackets, prioritise the multiplication above the addition (division/multiplication/addition/subtra… so the answer is 41
(40 + 40) x (0+1) = 81
40 + (40 x 0) + 1 = 41
((40 + 40) x 0) + 1 = 1

Even if no brackets BODMAS heirarchy must be applied. Multiplication has a higher priority than addition.
