You know Hibs, I got that impression as well. He went on about the breeding etc.

Dave Mollet said he spoke to Matchett about "the first timer". How can Matchett not mention the fact that it had run before ?
There should definetly be an enquiry, both into how the formguides missed it and how the public were never informed on tv.

Clearly the NHRA knew it had run.

If I remember correctly how a Graduation works its: 58Kg-2x winner, 55 for a winner and 52 for a maiden.

this is interesting if this is the case then the horse was carrying the wrong weight and therefore needs to be disqualified.

if it had carried a bigger weight it might have not beaten Baron of Breedon and i was going to collect R25 000 on the Baron
where does that leave me know?.

I wonder if the trainer knew that the horse had won and that is why it was entered in a Grad plate?, but nobody bothered to inform the punter.

if i had know the horse was a winner overseas I would have surely looked at it in a different way, because to punt a "maiden" against 2 time winners is risky.

But it is again a case of the punter being "F
ed" in the eye by Phumelela, but don't worry " the suckers will keep on betting and we will keep on laughing why we fill our pockets"

I wonder when we will begun to stand up for our rights?

To the "legal boffins" out there isn't there a case that can be made against Phumelela through the new consumer act for misleading their customers or something else?

Funny enough, I also backed the runner up.

I didn't notice that SHEER COURAGE was carrying the weight of a winner, perhaps I was confused because the horse is a 4yo making a debut in a Grad which is odd but not completely impossible.

What has me wondering is why after saying that they liked the horse and gave it a chance, no one thought to point out that it had won contrary to the official card and the rest of the media. Surely it occurred to them that if they win, people would be wondering about their silence on the matter.

under the racing operators conditions with regards to the official racing publication point 9.1 clearly states it is the responsibility of trainers to ensure that all details pertaining to their horses as published in the official racing publication are correct.the trainer is obliged to point out any amendments to the chairman of the stipes board or the racing executive by 9.00 am on the day of the race meeting.failure to comply with this condition shall constitute an offence and the trainer may be liable to a fine in terms of the rules........matchet should have his license suspended indefinitly pending an enquiry because in my opinion he deliberately misled the public and the bookmakers and brought racing into disrepute...this is far worse than any trainer having a positive and being fined between 45 to 65 k for it...
