Never mind the views of other entrants for the Equus Awards media competitions, Robyn Louw was my personal favourite, all along, and thoroughly deserved to win. She is a superb writer and I look forward to her Sporting Post column every week. It would be interesting to know where David Mollett made his pronouncements on the awards and what he actually said. The respective media competitions were judged by Alison McKenzie, former Editor of the SA Racehorse, and a woman of principle, and by Howard Wright, one of England's most highly respected racing writers.He is the senior writer on racing industry matters on the Racing Post and is a regular visitor to South Africa. He is also a man of complete integrity. I don't think the competition organisers could have found two more impartial judges. These awards were not made for long service to the racing industry, though the entrants had to have displayed a positive attitude towards the industry. Each entrant was asked to submit two examples of their work and the decision of the judges was based on the standards of excellence of the entries submitted. Had I been a bookmaker I would have priced up Robyn Louw as an odds-on favourite.

Neighmaster here are some of the comments from the site: he made Andrew Bonn 1/4 and asked Deez and Clyde what were the judges thinking, he did it on Tellytrack during the races.

Listening to Molly, it would appear some "shock" results, any comments from the CLAN?

Yes I just mentioned it on the racing thread.... If he wanted to have a conversation with Basel about it then he should do it off air imo ... bloody clown!!!

Yes would agree I think Molly put Deez and Clyde on the spot, it would appear the award was based on a couple of entries submitted.

Thanks everyone for all your kind words - most sincerely appreciated (and nice to meet you too, Dave !).

I didn't hear Mollie's comments on Tellytrack, but read his selections and bumped into him on the evening and he was perfectly charming.

The award was open to all journalists within the print, television and electronic media industry and there were 2 categories - one for written material and another for television. Racing South Africa advertised the award and journalists were invited to submit 2 pieces of work published during the 2010/2011 season in order to qualify.

It was a particular honour to nominated alongside Michael Clower - he is an incredibly prolific and respected industry contributor as well as a gentleman and sharing a nomination with him really makes the award even more special.
