Do they actually think R1-20, R1-80, R1-80, R1-80 for the first four in the July was successful. These guys live in a dreamworld.

Makes no difference to me though I will back with the bookies anyway.

any one who backed Bulsara (R4.20 for 5th) and Big City Life (R3.40 for 6th) would have to disagree with you shrek, and im not to sure how many bookies would have laid 5/20 Igugu to run in the first 6??

As you say who backed 5th and 6th would have been very happy. However this was surely to make the once a year punter to go away without losing money. The once a year punter will more than likely not be interested in having a bet in the Gold Cup.

I agree 100% it was put in place to create more winners...ironically had Igugu run 5th or 6th the R1.20 would have been looked upon as great value...

Sorry to disappoint Titch.....my July nibble was places on Big City Life.....6/1 for 6 places on Hollywood.
R3.40 not so great in the light of that!

(just double checked...sorry I exaggerated....5.3/1......but still great value)

It is better than getting 9/1 first 4 but Hollywood like several other bookies gave the punters an option for a place for 3,4,5 or 6 places with varying odds. The tote only gave 1 option 6 places take it or leave it.

BCL SP for the 1st 6 places with Holliwood was 2.97/1 (still marginally better than the Tote) so you obviously got on very early and if it was ante post stood the chance of loosing you bet had he not run...
