Bulsara being Pampered before the July

All of the Vodacom Durban July horses are being kept in cotton wool before the big race on Saturday and being spoilt with state of the art treatment from veterinarians and other professionals in the industry.

Shown above is the Gavin van Zyl-trained Bulsara receiving extra corporeal shock wave therapy by Dr Lauren Brewis of the Sumerveld Equine Hospital. The treatment is a preventative measure and is aimed at relaxing the ligaments and muscles in the back, reducing inflammation, increasing blood flow and it also treats the joint that joins the pelvis to the spine (known as the SI joint).

very interesting GREG.
Seems like the same treatment that was done on my filly, La Pucelle. Did not help much though.

There are not many horses that don`t get the odd nigles they are athletes, when athletes and sportmen come of the track/field whatever ,part of their recovery/preperation for the next match/game/event will be massage and muscle work.Im sure Gavin and co are just going that extra mile.

That is a good point. Looking at the pic , it does seem odd.

This is just a preventative measure and in no way means the horse has a problem - a bit like rugby players having physio in the week before a game I guess.
