What was your favourite july winner and why?
14 years 1 day ago
My fav july winner was right prerogative. My dad had a fortune to win and promised me a new car. I also backed it for R200 and won about a grand. My dad had got 33s. It really changed our lives for the better. I dont know what happened to right prerogative after the july. Maybe Pirates can help.

i've onlly ever backed 2 july winners , london news and grey's inn .
By far the most profitable was the year Grey's inn won . Having watched him win the Derby the way he did i was convinced i had seen the july winner .Sometime during the following week i went to bruma tats and took a Atc with Grey's inn to win +- 50k .
Come july day though i thought how on earth can Yard arm get beat . Honestly he had swept everything before him.
When Grey's inn won and Yard arm ran unplaced i was dumbstruck .I went to Glen sepel to collect and he was sour man !!!!
I did about 7k in the next few races but then quickly vacated the premises.

Strangely, Right Prerogative was also my most memorable and profitable July winner. I remember taking a double for RP to win a race about 4 weeks before the July onto RP to win the July.
I remember this clearly because I had caused a scene at the bookmakers about him not giving me the usually odds on the double. It was then when i was educated by the bookies that you do not get stretched odds on the same runner.

My favourite was Big Charles. I was 6 and our family held a raffle to pick the winner. I had picked Big Charles out the hat and couldn't believe it won. I took home the lion share of the kitty. Was R140 I think?
