SNAITH INTERVIEW.
14 years 1 month ago
I was fortunate enough to watch Justin Snaith being interviewed by James Goodman on Winning ways. This trainer is going places, and his thoughts and passion for the game, shows that his family and their involvement, love this game.He will be a threat to the top boys, and has some top class horses in training. How nice to see him having a wrestling match and a chirp or so to the Bass/DeKock stables.

I was at Kenilworth race course when one of his horse's dislodge the jockey as they left the parade ring.
This horse entered the race track, Justin ran after this horse for approximately 50 metres before he dived for the reins and grabbed it.
People though he was crazy because he could of got injured. Anyway the horse did participate in that race.
That was pure determination from Justin.

Did he discuss any plans and the well being of ebony flyer? Maybe Barry can shed some light on this. Nothing like hearing it from the horses mouth!

did not elaborate on any plans - but did mention ebony as being very well and "intimidating"
also "will play around with Soweto Slew" ...and choose his stars wisely for the bigger races
also enjoyed the interview though I caught only the latter parts / friendly rivalry with MDK - but mentioned that it will become even more competatitve the cape as stables advance

Wasn't Snaith going to set up a ''satellite'' yard on the highveld?

I have moved most of my horses to the Snaiths.....like a breathe of fresh air!!!!!
They are innovative and not scared to try unorthodox things like racing a horse back to back etc.....try the babies early and see if they have it??????
Good to party with and good marketers of their product......they will go from strength to strength........

Justin Snaith rides his own horses in training sometimes ... mentioned in the first part of the interview that it helps him get a feel for how the horse is. Dancer's Daughter was his best (imho) and he rode her too ... told the story on TT once how he galloped her round a 1 mile track, and she still pulled like a train after it so he took her round again, and she STILL wanted more at the end of 2 miles ... he really admired that filly!

On top of everything else, I think he has used his satellite operation in PE extremely well. He has shown just how having a second operation elsewhere can be used to maximum effect, for which his PE assistant Tara obviously deserves a lot of credit.
