Stakes must be a HUGE issue in the UK right now with these small fields every week and weekend. Even the big Newmarket meeting tomorrow hardly has stellar noms???

Nothing can get worse than Monday, a Workriders meet on a Public Holiday in SA:D.... While I do understand that these meeting are important for the workriders, I question the date set aside for it.....

Also has a lot to do with the price of diesel (£1.40 per litre) Some horses can travel up to 600 miles for a race (return journey) and if they think that the horse has very little chance of getting any prize money then why spend. They wait for a suitable race closer to home. When the season gets into full swing then hopefully the fields will increase.

Thanks for the input guys.....

Also if the owners get a ride like they got from Phil Makin on Royal Hush, maybe they leave even quicker? ;)

I just cannot get a handle on these big swings on the tote......

NO NOW - 3MIN - 6MIN - 9MIN - 12MIN - 15MIN
1 1.90 5.90 4.10 5.80 - -
2 3.60 3.40 4.20 7.60 - -
3 3.00 1.80 2.60 1.30 - -
4 19.30 6.40 3.40 9.90 -

Lady Rosamunde was 6/1 on the tote AFTER THEY JUMPED with the 2 and 3 sharing favouritism at 8/5 and 6/5 respectively. With 2 furlongs to run it changed to the above betting......

Lady Rosamunde became ODDS ON FAVOURITE!!!!!!

Guessing game this tote Tombo?

My favourite is when the ''on track'' tellytrack presenters quote the ''value'' on the tote 10 minutes before the race time.... Misleading the public me think....

Another problem I guess would be when the presenter calls 7/1 on the tote is a "bargain" and a thousand punters are agreeing and the horse goes evens on the next show :S...................lol
