unbeaten Black Caviar goes for 11th win

Lots of coverage for worlds best rated sprinter down under, maybe a clash with JJ in Hong Kong later this year?? She's 1/10 for Friday's group 1 sprint.
----
Australia: Trainer Peter Moody says only a "curve ball" could cause the defeat of Black Caviar in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday.
Rated the world's best sprinter, the unbeaten Black Caviar is out to land her 11th straight win and her fourth successive Group 1.She will meet some of her rivals from the Newmarket Handicap, which she won impressively this month, and Moody said his other runners Hinchinbrook, Master Harry and Panipique deserved their places in the field. "Crystal Lily ran super in the Newmarket [finished second] and is a Golden Slipper winner," he said. "I know my other three horses are stakes quality and I have high opinions of them.
"But being realistic, on exposed form, there is going to have to be a massive turnaround for those horses to defeat her. "You would think there would [have to] be some curve ball, something would have to go wrong with her and hopefully that's not the case."
Moody, who would like to see some rain fall before Friday, added: "Black Caviar knew she had a run [in the Newmarket Handicap]. It took a couple of days for the horse to bounce back, more so than she had previously."
Crystal Lily meets Black Caviar 5.5kg worse under the weight-for-age conditions for a three-length defeat, while King Pulse (fifth) and Hinchinbrook (sixth) meet her 7.5kg worse for being beaten sixand a quarter and six and a half lengths respectively. Black Caviar will carry 56.5kg and Moody has been pleased with her progress. "She hasn't done a lot since the Newmarket," he said, adding that she had done little more than "just pacework" when working at Caulfield on Saturday morning.
"Tuesday morning she had a bit of a slip along here [Caulfield] on the course proper and I'm very pleased with her," he said. "There are no excuses, she's been to Moonee Valley three times now. She's undefeated everywhere so I suppose it's easy to say she's undefeated there.
"She's held her condition well. She's just tightened down that little bit more since the Newmarket condition-wise and there are really no excuses again."

I believe that race is on Tellytrack at 12:45. If they remember to whip the Wincanton betting or some other rubbish off for long enough to actually show it.

No problems for Black Caviar at Moonee Valley but will sadly be "staying home"
Racing Post
THE remarkable Black Caviar (Peter Moody/Luke Nolen) took her unbeaten record to 11 with the minimum of fuss under the floodlights at Moonee Valley in Melbourne on Friday night.
The four-year-old darling of Australian racing recorded her latest Group 1 success with her usual panache in the William Reid Stakes, scoring eased down by almost two lengths over last year's Golden Slipper winner Crystal Lily. Hinchinbrook took third in the Aus$500,000 (about £317,000) event.
After slightly missing the break on the 1-11 favourite, Luke Nolen settled Black Caviar three wide in mid-division until halfway on the tight track at Moonee Valley, home of the Cox Plate, Australasia's most prestigious weight-for-age contest.
Shaken up to challenge before turning into the straight, the reigning world champion sprinter moved upsides front-running Crystal Lily, who had been handed the softest of leads.
Employing her trademark acceleration two furlongs out, Black Caviar surged away from her rivals to such an extent that Nolen was able to ease her down so that she could win as she liked.
Trainer Peter Moody was quick to ensure all the accolades went to his super filly rather than himself.
"What do you say? She's just gone and done the job again - full credit to her, it's hard to take credit for any part of it," he said.
"She's just a machine," Moody added. "I had no concerns - he probably had to wake her up as it's a bit late - she should be at home having a camp!
"She's very laid back and got the job done nicely, I thought - it's great to be a part of something that's so great for racing."
Nolen reported that he had had to shake her up a bit. "When I did, away she went," he said.
"That's where she wins her races - in the middle stages of a race - you ride to your strengths and there aren't many horses that can live with her at this distance at weight-for-age.
"The only instruction I got was not to hit her," added Nolen, who said public interest in Black Caviar's latest assignment had been "surreal".
Nolen said: "I suppose Glen Bossknows what it's like with Makybe Diva. I don't know how many people are here but they are here only for one horse and we didn't want to let them down. Just to be part of it, I feel very, very privileged."
While Royal Ascot officals would doubtless love to attract her to this summer's meeting, Black Caviar's connections have repeatedly dismissed the idea of her running abroad this year.
She is likely to run next in the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes at Randwick in Sydney on April 9.
